Job DescriptionJob Title: Dietary and Food Service Worker (Grill Cook, Tray Passer, Dishwasher, Cashier)Job Description This role supports the hospital’s dietary and food service operations by preparing meals, assisting on the tray line, operating the grill, passing meal trays, performing cashier duties, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. You will help ensure patients, visitors, and staff receive quality food service in a climate-controlled, professional setting. Responsibilities • Prepare food items according to established recipes, portion guidelines, and food safety standards., • Work on the tray line to assemble and organize patient and guest meal trays accurately and efficiently., • Operate the grill to cook and prepare hot food items while maintaining proper cooking times and temperatures., • Pass meal trays to patients and appropriate areas, ensuring timely and courteous service., • Perform cashier duties, including operating the point-of-sale system and handling transactions accurately., • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, ensuring all items are cleaned, sanitized, and properly stored., • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, dish room, and food preparation areas., • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of food., • Assist with general kitchen prep work, such as chopping, portioning, and setting up stations for service., • Collaborate with team members to support smooth foodservice operations throughout the hospital.Essential Skills, • Experience in food preparation and kitchen work in a foodservice environment., • Ability to work on a tray line and accurately assemble meal trays., • Proficiency in basic cooking tasks, including grilling and hot food preparation., • Experience as a cashier, including operating a point-of-sale system and handling payments., • Ability to perform dishwashing duties, including cleaning and sanitizing dishes and kitchen equipment., • Understanding of basic food safety and sanitation practices in a kitchen or foodservice setting., • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail., • Strong teamwork and communication skills to support coordinated foodservice operations.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous experience as a cook, grill cook, cashier, tray passer, or dishwasher in a hospital or similar setting., • Familiarity with kitchen prep tasks such as chopping, portioning, and organizing ingredients., • Comfort working in a structured foodservice environment with established procedures and standards., • Reliability and flexibility to perform a variety of foodservice and kitchen support tasks as needed.Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond Heights, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
