Job Title: Receptionist Job Description The receptionist provides high-level administrative support by greeting and directing visitors, handling information requests, and performing a wide range of clerical and office support functions. This role serves as the first point of contact for visitors and callers, ensures smooth front desk operations, and supports daily office activities with professionalism and strong customer service. Responsibilities • Greet and direct visitors in a professional and courteous manner., • Provide information to visitors and employees, and respond to general inquiries., • Answer, screen, and route incoming telephone calls using a telephone or console switchboard., • Receive and send packages via couriers, ensuring accurate handling and documentation., • Maintain a visitor log and call records to track office traffic and inquiries., • Issue and collect security passes or badges to visitors as required., • Perform typing, filing, and other routine clerical tasks to support office operations., • Maintain the boardroom schedule, including booking meetings and managing room availability., • Ensure boardroom equipment is available, functioning, and set up as needed for meetings., • Provide general administrative support such as photocopying, binding documents, and preparing mailers., • Assist with the preparation and distribution of documents, reports, and correspondence., • Handle information requests while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information., • Organize and prioritize daily tasks to support efficient front desk and office operations. Essential Skills • Strong verbal and written communication skills., • Effective multi-tasking skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities at the front desk., • Demonstrated customer service skills and a professional, courteous demeanor., • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with visitors, callers, and staff at all levels., • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time effectively., • Ability to keep information organized, accurate, and confidential., • Previous experience using computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint., • High school diploma or equivalent required., • 0–2 years of related experience required for entry-level consideration., • Customer service, reception, or front desk experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications • 2+ years of receptionist, front desk, or customer service experience preferred., • Experience managing a switchboard or multi-line phone system., • Familiarity with scheduling boardrooms or meeting rooms., • Experience handling couriers, packages, and mail distribution., • Comfort with basic office equipment such as copiers, printers, and binding machines. Work Environment This role is based at a front desk or reception area within an office environment. The receptionist works on-site during standard business hours, serving as the primary point of contact for visitors and callers. The position involves frequent interaction with internal staff and external guests, regular use of computers and office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and routine use of office equipment including telephones, console switchboards, photocopiers, printers, and binding machines. The work requires maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor at all times while working in a structured, service-oriented setting that values organization, confidentiality, and reliable administrative support. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Sunnyvale, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
