Job Description Grow, Learn, and Thrive With Us Marcy Precious Little 1s is an award-winning childcare program serving families since 2009. We are looking for a warm, energetic, reliable, and motivated Afternoon Assistant Teacher to join our team. This is a long-term, non-seasonal position for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and wants an opportunity to learn, develop, and grow in the early childhood field. Schedule Monday–Friday: 2:00 PM–7:15 PM This position is part of our afternoon closing team, so dependable attendance, punctuality, and consistent availability through 7:15 PM are essential. Occasional opportunities for additional hours may be available, including earlier coverage or select Saturdays. Additional availability is appreciated but is not required for the regular Afternoon Assistant Teacher schedule. Compensation $18.00 per hour Who We Serve Our scholars range from 6 weeks through 12 years old, including infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and after-school scholars. Staff may support different age groups based on program needs, ratios, and scheduling. What You’ll Do As an Afternoon Assistant Teacher, you will help create a warm, engaging, organized, and positive end to each day. Responsibilities include: • Greeting scholars and families warmly and professionally, • Supporting afternoon learning through story time, sensory play, learning centers, crafts, block play, and movement, • Supporting feeding, diapering, toileting, dinner, and daily transitions, • Providing homework support for after-school scholars, • Creating and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities using our curriculum framework, with training, support, feedback, and guidance provided, • Preparing classroom materials and learning activities, • Supervising scholars during indoor and outdoor activities, • Sharing classroom moments and photo updates through Brightwheel, • Communicating professionally with families during pick-up, • Assisting with classroom décor, theme days, graduations, trips, and special events, • Cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing the classroom throughout the shift, • Completing end-of-day classroom and closing responsibilities, • Following daily routines, procedures, checklists, and program expectations, • Working collaboratively with the teaching team and supporting different age groups as needed What We’re Looking For • High school diploma or GED required, • Experience working with young children preferred, • Excellent reliability, punctuality, and attendance, • Warm, positive, energetic, and professional communication style, • Comfortable working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school-age scholars, and mixed-age groups, • Comfortable working within structured routines and as part of a team, • Ability to follow procedures and complete assigned responsibilities independently, • Willingness to assist with cleaning, sanitizing, organization, and maintaining a high-quality learning environment, • Creative and interested in hands-on learning, • Tech-friendly; training provided, • Open to coaching, constructive feedback, professional development, and continued learning, • Ability to complete all required childcare paperwork and trainings, • CPR/First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire A CDA Credential, early childhood coursework, or previous childcare experience is a plus, but not required. Candidates should have a genuine interest in professional growth. Employees must be able to stand, bend, squat, kneel, participate in indoor and outdoor activities, and lift children or classroom materials up to approximately 40 lbs.
