Veterinary Surgeon – Preclinical Research \n \n An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established preclinical research organisation. Working alongside an experienced Named Veterinary Surgeon (NVS), you will play a key role in supporting animal welfare, veterinary care, and regulatory compliance across a range of research programmes. \n \n This position offers a structured development pathway, including training and support towards becoming a Named Veterinary Surgeon (NVS), making it an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian looking to build a long-term career within the research environment. \n \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Provide veterinary care and clinical oversight for animals\n, • Support animal welfare, health monitoring, and preventative medicine programmes\n, • Work closely with scientific and animal care teams to ensure high standards of welfare and compliance\n, • Assist with the review of study protocols and provide veterinary input where required\n, • Contribute to regulatory compliance in line with the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act (ASPA) and associated guidelines.\n, • Participate in veterinary investigations, case management, and welfare assessments\n, • Support training and development initiatives relating to animal welfare and veterinary best practice\n\n \n Requirements \n\n • MRCVS-qualified Veterinary Surgeon\n, • Previous experience working with dogs is essential\n, • Strong understanding of animal welfare and clinical veterinary practice\n, • A proactive and collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams\n\n \n Desirable Experience \n\n • Experience working within a Contract Research Organisation (CRO) or research environment\n, • Knowledge of laboratory animal science and the regulatory framework governing animal research\n, • Exposure to ASPA-regulated procedures\n, • Interest in progressing towards Named Veterinary Surgeon (NVS) responsibilities\n\n \n What's on Offer \n\n • Competitive salary\n, • Structured training and mentoring towards NVS status\n, • Opportunity to work within a collaborative scientific environment\n, • Professional development and career progression opportunities\n, • Comprehensive benefits package\n\n \n If you are a veterinarian with experience working with dogs and an interest in advancing your career within preclinical research, we would be pleased to hear from you.
