Encon Staffing are looking for a Junior Contracts Manager/Project Manager, you will assist in the administration of contracts and the planning and coordination of projects from award through to completion. You’ll help ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with UK regulations and standards, while supporting senior managers with key commercial and contractual tasks. This role offers exposure to both office-based and site-based activities, giving you a broad understanding of project delivery. Key Responsibilities: Assist with the preparation, review, and administration of contracts, subcontracts, and related documentation. Support project planning and scheduling activities, including the creation and maintenance of project programmes and timelines. Monitor project progress against key milestones, highlighting variances and assisting with corrective action plans. Coordinate with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure information, resources, and materials are available as required. Help ensure projects comply with relevant UK regulations, standards, and company procedures, including health and safety requirements. Maintain accurate records, reports, and project documentation to support effective project control and audit readiness. Contribute to problem-solving and decision-making by gathering data, analysing issues, and proposing practical options to senior colleagues. Support progress meetings by preparing reports, minutes, and action logs, and following up on agreed actions. Key Requirements: Experience in a junior contracts, project coordination, or assistant project management role within construction, engineering, or a related sector. Working knowledge of contract administration processes, including drafting, reviewing, and tracking contract documentation. Familiarity with project planning and scheduling tools and methods, with the ability to work with project programmes. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a structured approach to analysing issues and identifying solutions. Understanding of UK regulations and standards relevant to construction or engineering projects, including basic health and safety principles. Competent IT skills, including proficiency with MS Office (particularly Excel and Word) and the ability to learn project-related software. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines. Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and suppliers. Desirable Skills: Experience working with standard forms of contract (e.g. NEC, JCT) in a junior or support capacity. Exposure to formal project management methodologies or frameworks. Experience using project planning software such as MS Project or similar tools. Previous involvement in compliance audits, quality management, or risk management activities. Experience supporting site-based teams and understanding of site operations. Qualifications: HNC/HND or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, Business, or a related discipline. Formal training or certification in project management (e.g. PRINCE2 Foundation, APM PFQ) is advantageous. Health and safety-related training (e.g. CSCS card, IOSH Working Safely/Managing Safely) is beneficial. Ongoing commitment to professional development in contracts and project management.
