This is an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join the Special Projects team where you will provide client-side commercial support across Persimmon Group Special Projects. You will be taking responsibility for cost management, procurement, contractual matters and commercial risk from project inception through to completion and final account. You will help maintain strong commercial control across a portfolio of fire safety and external wall remediation projects, working closely with Project Managers, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly and within approved budgets. What you'll do as a Quantity Surveyor Manage project budgets, cash flow forecasts, cost reporting and overall commercial performance across remediation projects. Lead and support procurement activities, including reviewing tender documentation, evaluating bids, comparing costs and making contractor appointment recommendations. Review and assess contractor payment applications, valuations, variations, forecasts and cost reports, making recommendations for certification and commercial decisions. Manage change control, assessing the financial impact of design development, latent defects, programme changes, delays, extensions of time and acceleration. Support commercial negotiations, claims, disputes and the agreement of final accounts, ensuring commercial risks and opportunities are appropriately managed. Review surveys, technical reports and design information to identify cost implications, commercial risks and opportunities. Work collaboratively with Project Managers and design teams to maintain commercial control throughout delivery, including participation in project and design meetings. Maintain accurate and auditable commercial records, ensure compliance with contractual, Group and statutory requirements, and capture lessons learned and final cost data. What experience do I need? Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, with strong knowledge of procurement and commercial management. Experience managing project costs, valuations, forecasting, change control, contractual matters and final accounts, with a strong understanding of JCT contracts. Strong commercial, analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to assess technical information and understand its commercial implications. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage contractors, consultants and multiple projects and competing priorities. Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline; MRICS or working towards chartership is desirable. Experience in fire/cladding remediation, building safety, occupied residential projects, knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022, and experience with a major housebuilder, developer, Tier 1 or specialist remediation contractor is desirable. xrnqpay Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and commercial reporting systems, alongside a full UK driving licence.
