With approximately 120 employees, we are looking for an experienced and highly organised Senior Payroll and Accounts Officer to manage our payroll and day-to-day finance functions. This role would particularly suit an experienced payroll manager, finance officer, bookkeeper, or retired/semi-retired accountant seeking a rewarding and flexible part-time position. Key Responsibilities • Manage weekly and monthly payroll for approximately 120 employees, • Ensure accurate PAYE, National Insurance, pension, and HMRC submissions., • Administer workplace pensions and auto-enrolment., • Process staff expenses and travel claims., • Maintain purchase and sales ledgers., • Raise invoices and reconcile customer payments., • Carry out bank reconciliations., • Monitor cash flow, debtor balances, and credit control., • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports., • Liaise with the external accountant regarding month-end and year-end accounts., • Maintain accurate payroll and financial records., • Ensure compliance with HMRC, employment legislation, and financial procedures., • Identify opportunities to improve payroll and financial processes. Essential Requirements • At least 5 years' experience in payroll and accounts., • Strong knowledge of PAYE, RTI, pensions, and HMRC regulations., • Experience using payroll and accounting software such as BrightPay, Xero, or QuickBooks., • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills., • High level of accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail., • Excellent organisational and communication skills., • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities. Desirable • AAT qualification or equivalent., • Experience within the health or social care sector., • Knowledge of payroll for shift workers and variable-hour employees. Financial & Resource Management • Manage budgets, staffing costs, and resources effectively., • Ensure the home operates sustainably and within financial parameters., • Oversee procurement, maintenance, and external contracts. 7. On‑Call & Availability • Participate in the on‑call rota to support staff and respond to emergencies., • Provide flexible working hours when required to meet the needs of the home.
