This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a well-established business as Financial Controller on a 12-month fixed-term contract, leading a small team and taking ownership of financial reporting, controls, forecasting, and compliance. \n Client Details \n A leading UK manufacturing and distribution business is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its finance leadership team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. \n This role is reporting directly to the Finance Director, with responsibility for leading the finance function, managing a small team and ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial information to support business performance and decision-making. \n The organisation is well-established, with a national footprint and exciting growth plans. \n Description \n \n \n Key responsibilities include: \n\n • Leading the month-end, half-year, and year-end reporting process.\n, • Overseeing the preparation of statutory accounts under IFRS and UK GAAP.\n, • Coordinating external audit activities and managing key audit risks.\n, • Owning the production of management accounts, forecasts, budgets, and supporting analysis.\n, • Driving continuous improvement across reporting, controls, systems, and finance processes.\n, • Enhancing internal controls and supporting upcoming UK governance and controls reforms.\n, • Overseeing cash flow forecasting, treasury management, and working capital initiatives.\n, • Acting as a key contact for tax compliance and external advisers.\n, • Partnering with senior stakeholders to challenge performance and support strategic decision-making.\n, • Leading, coaching, and developing a finance team of qualified and part-qualified professionals.\n\n \n \n Profile \n You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience gained within a sizeable business environment. \n You will also bring: \n\n • Proven finance team leadership experience.\n, • Strong knowledge of statutory reporting and audit management.\n, • Experience of maintaining and improving financial controls.\n, • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\n, • The ability to influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels.\n, • A proactive approach to process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.\n, • ERP implementation experience would be advantageous but is not essential.\n\n \n Job Offer \n\n • Competitive salary of £75,000 - £90,000.\n, • Completion bonus (linked to objectives and contract completion)\n, • Hybrid working arrangement.\n, • Opportunity to play a key role within a well-established and growing business.\n, • Supportive and collaborative team culture.\n
