You'll work to meet or exceed client expectations, promote the full range of the consultancy's services during client and stakeholder interfaces, and contribute to the ongoing development and growth of the business-both technically and commercially.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage selected projects (or project components), including resource planning, subcontractor management, quality assurance, client feedback, and clear communication of changesUndertake site work as required to meet resourcing needsPrepare proposals by understanding client requirements, defining scope, and estimating the level of effort required for successful deliveryManage project data and produce high-quality technical reports covering both environmental and geotechnical elementsReview reports produced by others to ensure quality and technical accuracyEnsure compliance across project deliverables, including drawings, reports, specifications, and calculationsBuild and maintain effective client relationships; manage commercial aspects such as contracts, invoicing, WIP, variations, and debt management for your projectsLiaise with project teams, management, and clients to ensure all parties remain informed of project progress and developmentsDevelop a strong understanding of client businesses and their sector to build credibility and long-term relationshipsMaintain and promote compliance with relevant H&S regulations and support a strong safety culture across the teamTake ownership of your professional development, including any role-relevant accreditationSupport the development and growth of the consultancy's geo-environmental capabilityContribute ideas and support non-technical tasks where needed to help drive business improvement and growthManage project financial performance to achieve budget targets and meet KPIsSupport bid, quotation, and tender writing (including review and input)Carry out other reasonable duties to support delivery and growthEssential Skills & ExperienceDemonstrable experience in a similar principal-level geo-environmental roleRelevant technical degree (e.g., chemistry, engineering, geology, environmental science)Higher degree in contaminated land, hydrogeology, geotechnical engineering (or similar) is desirableEvidence of continuing professional development; chartership desirable (or working towards)Full UK driving licenceStrong experience delivering land contamination assessments within the UK regulatory framework (current and future land use)Proven ability to write and manage the production of high-quality technical reportsTechnical oversight and peer review capability across reports and outputsStrong skills in presenting, analysing, and interpreting dataDemonstrable project management experienceCommercial control experience: forecasting, variations, invoicing, WIP, and debt managementStrong HSQE focus; confident contributing at client meetings and on sitePerson SpecificationStrong verbal and written communication skillsAble to work independently and collaboratively as part of a wider teamConfident, credible, client-facing communicator with the ability to lead meetingsPositive and proactive attitude to Health & SafetyAble to mentor and develop junior staffStrong commercial approach to managing projectsWilling to work across different operational areas as requiredEnthusiastic, self-motivated, and delivery-focusedGrowth mindset with an interest in shaping opportunities and supporting work-winning
