Marketing, Communications & Admissions Officer (Secondary School)Location: Brighton, East SussexContract: Temporary AssignmentStart Date: September 2026 on a temporary basis initially Hours: 37 hours per weekPay: £17.85 - £20.29 per hour (depending on experience)Your New RoleHays Education are working in partnership with a secondary school in Brighton & Hove to recruit a talented and proactive Marketing, Communications & Admissions Officer for a temporary assignment starting in September.This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting one of Brighton's leading secondary schools. You will lead on marketing, communications and admissions activities, while managing the school's reception service and supporting a range of engagement and transition events throughout the academic year.Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Director of Finance & Operations, you will help showcase the school's achievements, coordinate communications with families and stakeholders, and ensure prospective families experience a professional and welcoming admissions journey.Key Responsibilities - Marketing & Communications - Lead the school's marketing and communication activities across a range of platforms. - Manage and develop the school website, ensuring the content is accurate, engaging and up to date. - Produce and coordinate newsletters, parent communications and promotional materials. - Develop and manage the school's social media presence, including Instagram. - Promote and protect the school brand across all communications. - Coordinate the production of the school's publications - Organise and promote key school events such as Open Evenings and Open Mornings. - Support communications relating to Year 6 transition and prospective student recruitment. - Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, carers, feeder schools and other stakeholders.Admissions - Lead the administrative and communication processes relating to student admissions. - Coordinate Year 6 to Year 7 transition activities and associated communications. - Support prospective families throughout the admissions process. - Liaise with internal departments and partner primary schools to ensure smooth student transition arrangements. - Review and improve admissions processes and procedures where appropriate.Reception & Administrative Management - Line manage and support the Reception team, ensuring a professional and welcoming front-of-house service. - Coordinate reception cover and monitor service standards. - Maintain and develop accurate manual and electronic record systems. - Produce reports and analyse data as required. - Manage confidential records and information in accordance with school policies. - Provide high-level administrative support to senior leaders and other staff. - Attend meetings and take minutes where required. - Support ordering, purchasing and resource management activities. - Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety procedures within the role's remit.What You'll Need to Succeed - Previous experience within a school, education setting or busy administrative environment. - Experience in marketing, communications, admissions or stakeholder engagement. - Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality content. - Strong organisational and project management skills. - Experience managing websites, social media platforms and digital communications. - Excellent IT skills and confidence using management information systems. - The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently. - A professional, personable and customer-focused approach. - Experience of supervising or managing staff would be advantageous. - A current First Aid qualification would be desirable but is not essential.
