Additional benefits include early Friday finishes and Time Off in Lieu.Principal Electronic & Electrical EngineerKey ResponsibilitiesAs a Principal Electronic & Electrical Engineer, you will lead technical delivery, develop engineering capability, and ensure excellence across the discipline within a complex, safety-critical environment.Design and Technical Delivery (40%)Lead the design and development of high-integrity electronic and electrical systems, including digital, analogue, mixed signal, and power electronicsSupport system architecture definition and detailed design activities, including schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, and qualificationEnsure compliance with environmental, EMC/EMI, safety, and performance requirementsLead and contribute to design reviews (PDR, CDR), ensuring robust technical assurancePromote Design for Manufacture, Test, Reliability, and Support across all engineering activitiesCollaborate with systems, mechanical, and production teams to optimise integration and deliveryLeadership and Capability Development (60%)Provide technical leadership across the Electronic and Electrical disciplineMentor and develop engineers at all levels, supporting professional growth and capability upliftDrive continuous improvement across engineering processes, tools, and governanceSupport recruitment, onboarding, and long-term capability planningWork cross-functionally with Systems, Software, Mechanical, and Programme teams to ensure aligned deliveryContribute to bids, proposals, and customer-facing technical discussionsProvide oversight across project lifecycles, managing technical risk, dependencies, and prioritiesEnsure compliance with defence standards, export controls, and regulatory requirementsSkills, Qualifications & ExperienceRequired:Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experienceExtensive experience delivering complex electronic and electrical systems within defence, aerospace, or similar regulated environmentsStrong background in high-reliability design, including multi-layer PCB design, FPGA/microprocessor systems, power electronics, and signal conditioningProven experience leading design reviews and ensuring technical assuranceStrong stakeholder engagement skills, both internally and customer-facingAbility to lead, mentor, and develop engineering teamsEligibility to obtain Security Clearance (SC)Desired:Chartered Engineer (CEng), or working towardsExperience across full product lifecycle, from concept through to in-service supportStrong understanding of verification, validation, and qualification processesExperience contributing to engineering governance and continuous improvement initiativesWhat We OfferOptional 9-day fortnightFlexible working hours and hybrid optionsEarly finish on FridaysAnnual bonus25 days holiday plus Christmas shutdownOption to buy or sell leavePrivate healthcare, dental, and critical illness coverDiscounts platform across 200+ retailersLife assurance at 4x salaryPension scheme starting at 5% employer contributionLocationsGreenford, Greater LondonWeymouth, DorsetSecurity & EligibilityDue to the nature of our programmes, candidates must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance.Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks will apply as a minimum, with further vetting required for certain programmes.Diversity & InclusionWe are committed to building an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives drive better outcomes.
