Role Highlights: • Full-time contract position, 32 hours per week, • Work closely with an elementary-aged student for the entire school year, • Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to provide seamless communication access, • Adapt interpreting methods to fit a dynamic classroom environment Qualifications and Experience: • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), • Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in an educational setting, • Knowledge of Deaf culture and the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing, • Flexibility to interpret across academic subjects and school activities, • Ability to build supportive, professional relationships with students and school personnel, • Relevant certification or license for interpreting in a school setting (preferred) Key Responsibilities: • Deliver accurate, confidential ASL interpretation for an elementary student throughout the school day, • Facilitate communication during lessons, group activities, and school events, • Support teaching staff to ensure instructional materials and directions are accessible, • Assist in fostering a positive, inclusive atmosphere for learning and development, • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times This is more than a contract—it’s an opportunity to empower a young learner while developing your professional skills within a supportive school community.
