In addition to traditional open surgery, our board-certified general surgeon is skilled in robotic and minimally invasive surgical procedures. Position Summary: Assists providers in the administration of patient care in assigned clinical areas. Assists with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes. Performs general administrative duties in accordance with JCAHO, CLIA, NCQA and government standards, as well as company policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities: • Performs visit chart preparation activities based on the daily scheduled appointments including diagnostic test results, emergency/urgent care reports, discharge summaries and consult/PCP reports are located in the medical record and accessible to the provider., • Performs rooming activities for provider visits according to the documented rooming criteria including chief complaint, allergies, vital signs, medication list review, tobacco history, LMP, health maintenance overrides and documentation in a timely and accurate manner., • Obtains and documents age and/or condition-specific measurements accurately including vital signs, height, weight, head circumference, peak flow, and pulse oximetry., • Conducts and documents hearing, vision, respiratory and ECG testing., • Performs and documents specific screening based on condition/need including depression and asthma., • Obtains, documents and processes specimens using the appropriate collection process and equipment., • Performs and documents point of care testing accurately., • Performs venipuncture procedures (as needed) and processes specimens as outlined in policies and procedures., • Administers medications and immunizations including oral, nasal, injectable, rectal and topical routes as appropriate., • Processes medication prescription refills per guidelines using telephonic, electronic or print methods., • Handles prior authorization processes for medications and/or procedures and documents appropriately., • Manages clinical supplies and medication sample areas to ensure that stock is current, stored appropriately, labeled and par levels maintained. Education/Experience/Licensure: MA I Education: HS Diploma or GED required and One of the following: • Graduate from an accredited MA Program., • Graduate from an MA Training Program with externship., • 1 year of relevant healthcare experience with formal training (LNA, EMT, Combat Medic)., • 1 year prior experience as a Medical Assistant. Experience: 1 year of relevant healthcare exp. (can include externship), 1 -2 years exp. in a clinical ambulatory care setting preferred. Certification/Licensure: Must possess BLS authorization upon 90 days of employment and maintain during employment. CMA, RMA or CCMA preferred. MA II Education: HS Diploma or GED required and One of the following: • Graduate from an accredited MA Program., • Graduate from an MA Training Program with externship., • At least 3 years' experience as a Medical Assistant., • Experience: 1 year of relevant healthcare exp. 51473438 Overview Post Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Surgery Center (PACU RN) provides care to patients in accordance with ASPAN (Association Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses) guidelines. PACU RNs provide care and support to patients before, during, and after surgery. PACU RNs may also provide care in the Pre-Admission Testing and Day Surgery settings with responsibilities as specified below. Full-Time, 30 hours/week. Responsibilities • Practices consistently with applicable state nursing practice regulations, applicable ASC policies and procedures, and the ANA Code of Ethics., • Verifies patient identity (using 2 identifiers), planned surgical procedure, and review of expectations with patient and family/others present., • Reviews patient pre-admission assessment and history inclusive of medications, physical and sensory limitations, screening of sleep disorders, and presence of external or implantable medical devices, laboratory and radiology findings. upon that information as necessary. Completes day of surgery testing such as pregnancy testing, EKG, or radiology studies., • Receives and cares for post-operatively. Performs assessment of vital signs, oxygen saturation, capnography, and pain level. Assesses for symptoms of post-operative/post-anesthesia nausea and vomiting and treats per patient specific orders., • Monitors surgical site(s) for excessive bleeding, discharge, swelling, hematoma, redness, or any other signs and symptoms of complications and reports relevant change to surgeon or anesthesia provider., • Assures safety of discharge to the next level of care based on patient assessment according to discharge criteria., • Assures availability of adaptive equipment if needed, responsible escort home, and safe home care plan. Reviews discharge instructions and follow up with responsible family/others present., • Communicates with colleagues professionally, with commitment to maintaining a respectful workplace culture and a safe learning environment., • Complies with policies, procedures, and area-specific expectations related to maintaining a safe environment of care. Initiates reporting or action when needed to address safety concerns., • Complies with policies, procedures and area-specific expectations related to medication safety., • Complies with policies, procedures and area-specific expectations related to:, • patient identification and specimen labeling activities, • documentation of patient information and patient care activities, • dependability, attendance, and scheduling, • Participates in staff meetings, required learning, attestation, competency, and training activities according to area-specific and organizational expectations. Qualifications • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required., • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred with at least 1 year of experience in an ASC., • Associate Degree (ADN) prepared nurses with 2 years' experience., • Prior ASC or PACU experience a must.
