Job Description Surgical First Assistant (NP / PA‑C / CRNFA) – Full Time Location: Watertown, NY Schedule: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM + On‑Call Rotation Compensation: $90,750.40/year + Sign‑On Bonus About the Role We're seeking a skilled Surgical First Assistant to support surgeons throughout all phases of the operative process. In this role, you'll assist with preoperative planning, provide hands‑on intraoperative support, and participate in postoperative patient care. This position is ideal for early‑career clinicians with at least 2 years of perioperative or surgical services experience who want to grow their surgical skill set and work in a fast‑paced, team‑driven OR environment. Key Responsibilities You will play a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality surgical care, including: • Reviewing surgical plans and patient history prior to procedures, • Preparing the surgical field, positioning patients, and assisting with prepping, • Ensuring availability and sterility of instruments and supplies, • Assisting with draping and communicating the surgical plan with the RN and CST, • Providing exposure of the operative site using retractors and surgical tools, • Controlling bleeding through clamping, ligating, or cauterizing vessels, • Handling tissues, cutting sutures, and performing wound closure, • Suctioning, irrigating, and sponging the operative site as needed, • Assisting with robotic, laparoscopic, and minimally invasive procedures, • Monitoring patient vital signs under surgeon or anesthesiologist direction, • Applying dressings and assisting with transfer to recovery, • Ensuring all instruments and materials are accounted for, • Documenting operative procedures and observations accurately, • Participating in postoperative assessments and wound care Qualifications To be considered, candidates must meet all of the following: • Associate degree or higher, • 2+ years of perioperative or surgical services experience, • One of the following active New York credentials:, • CRNFA, • Nurse Practitioner (NP), • Physician Assistant‑Certified (PA‑C), • NCCPA certificationBenefits, • Competitive annual salary, • Sign‑On Bonus, • Life insurance, • Disability insurance, • Full‑time, 40‑hour work week
