Job Description Job Title: Machinist – 1st Shift Job Description This 1st shift machinist role focuses on independently setting up, programming, and operating a variety of CNC and manual machine tools to produce high-quality, custom components. You will work with advanced conversational controls and CAM software, perform first-article inspections, and maintain tight tolerances across multiple materials in a quiet, climate-controlled facility. Responsibilities • Operate CNC and manual machine tools using Acu-Rite and Mazatrol conversational controls, CAM, or G-code as required by each job., • Program and run parts primarily using Fusion 360 or Mazatrol to produce accurate and repeatable components., • Operate a range of equipment including Clausing CNC bed mills and knee mills with Acu-Rite controls, Haas VM-9 large-format vertical machining centers, manual lathes, drill presses, arbor presses, bench grinders, surface grinders, tapping arms, band saws, and a Mitutoyo coordinate measuring machine (CMM)., • Cut and prepare raw material in aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel, hardened tool steels, and engineering plastics to meet job specifications., • Independently set up jobs, including fixturing, tooling selection, tool offsets, and first-article inspection, with an expectation of handling approximately 15–30 setups per week., • Read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T callouts, to understand design intent and required tolerances., • Maintain quality by inspecting your own work using micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and other precision measuring tools., • Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to programs, tooling, and setups to optimize cycle times and part quality., • Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area around all machines and equipment., • Collaborate with team members and be open to cross-training on additional machines and processes to support production needs. Essential Skills • 5+ years of CNC machining and programming experience., • Proficiency operating CNC mills and CNC lathes., • Strong experience with machine setup, including fixturing, tooling, and offsets., • Ability to program CNC machines using Fusion 360 and/or Mazatrol conversational controls., • Hands-on experience working with Haas and Mazak equipment., • Solid blueprint reading skills, including the ability to interpret GD&T callouts., • Ability to inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and other precision measurement tools., • Comfort working with a variety of materials including aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel, hardened tool steels, and engineering plastics., • Capability to perform first-article inspections and verify conformance to specifications., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience programming CNC machines with Fusion 360 or Mazatrol is a significant plus., • Familiarity with Acu-Rite controls on bed mills and knee mills., • Experience operating large-format vertical machining centers such as the Haas VM-9., • Experience using manual lathes, drill presses, arbor presses, bench grinders, surface grinders, tapping arms, band saws, and coordinate measuring machines., • Willingness to cross-train on different machines and processes to expand skill set., • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple setups per week., • Reliable work habits, including consistent attendance and punctuality. Work Environment This position is on 1st shift, working Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with current operations starting before your shift at approximately 6:00 a.m. You can expect a 40–50 hour workweek. The facility is quiet, well-lit, and climate controlled, providing a comfortable and focused environment around a mix of CNC and manual equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, presses, tapping arms, band saws, and a coordinate measuring machine. The setting supports hands-on, technical work with a variety of materials and machines in a professional shop atmosphere. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Verona, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $58240.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
