Job Description Job Title: Production Associate Job Description The Production Associate supports a high-volume manufacturing operation that produces small metal parts for automotive vehicles using large stamping presses, welding stations, and production lines. This role involves a mix of production line work, material handling, machine support, and quality checks, requiring strong attention to detail, reliability, and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks as needed. Responsibilities • Operate on a production line to support the stamping and manufacturing of small metal parts., • Push carts of product and move materials throughout the facility to keep production flowing smoothly., • Perform general lifting and labor tasks, including handling materials and assisting with shipping and receiving activities., • Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure product quality and adherence to specifications., • Demonstrate a high level of initiative by taking ownership of tasks and supporting team members as needed., • Maintain strong and consistent attendance and arrive on time for all scheduled shifts., • Assist with crane operation and crane-related tasks under appropriate guidance., • Move and organize large metal coils safely, working alone or with another team member., • Perform quality checks on fuel lids to ensure they meet standards and customer requirements., • Complete general production tasks related to fuel lid manufacturing and inspection., • Serve as a link between production and shipping by double-checking products and helping build pallets based on customer orders (for line lead–track candidates)., • Work with a team to monitor productivity and quality on the production line., • Support machine setup by adjusting settings on presses and weld equipment, demonstrating mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills., • Conduct visual quality checks on small metal parts and occasionally perform minor dimensional checks to determine if further dimensional auditing is required., • Read diagrams and follow written work instructions to ensure processes are followed correctly by team members., • Report audit findings to the quality team after reviewing press, weld, conveyance, and quality processes., • Use an iPad or similar device to document and submit quality audit results., • Walk the production floor regularly to perform audits and support continuous quality improvement., • Provide clear, constructive feedback to team members when quality or process issues are identified., • Use lathe and grinding machines to sharpen tips for the welding department as part of tip-shaving duties., • Handle materials, including assembly, picking, packing, loading, pallet jack use, and general labor tasks as needed., • Interpret and understand all work instructions and complete all required paperwork related to the position accurately., • Remain open to performing other job duties, including machine operating and cross-training in different stations as requested. Essential Skills • Ability to stand on feet for 8–10+ hours per day in a production environment., • Ability to lift 30+ lbs repeatedly and lift items overhead on a regular basis., • Experience working in a fast-paced environment such as manufacturing, production, or warehouse operations., • Previous experience in a production facility or warehouse setting., • Strong reliability and punctuality, with the ability to show up every day on time., • High attention to detail for visual inspections and quality checks., • Ability to interpret and understand written work instructions and diagrams., • Ability to complete necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner., • Comfort working with manufacturing equipment such as presses, weld stations, and material handling tools., • Willingness to perform general labor, material handling, and assembly tasks., • Openness to cross-training and taking on additional machine operating responsibilities as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with crane operation or assisting with crane-related tasks., • Experience moving and organizing large metal coils or similar heavy materials., • Interest in leadership and good tenure for potential line lead responsibilities., • Ability to work effectively with a team while managing an individual workstation., • Mechanical aptitude and comfort with machine setup and adjusting machine settings., • Basic troubleshooting skills for production and welding equipment., • Experience conducting quality checks and visual inspections in a manufacturing environment., • Familiarity with reading diagrams and following detailed process instructions., • Experience using tablets or iPads for reporting and documentation., • Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, shipping, receiving, inventory, order selecting, picking, packing, loading, and general material handling., • Ability to handle general labor tasks in a production or warehouse setting. The environment involves regular material handling, use of large stamping presses, welding stations, lathes, grinding machines, and standard warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks. The pace is fast, with consistent movement around the facility, pushing carts, and handling products and materials throughout the shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $15.50 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
