Job DescriptionMetal Fabrication Technician - Aerospace ManufacturingPosition Summary We are looking for a skilled Metal Fabrication Technician to support the production of precision aerospace components. In this role, you will operate CNC and conventional fabrication equipment to cut, form, and shape sheet metal materials according to engineering specifications. Success in this position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical documentation while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Primary Responsibilities • Operate a variety of fabrication equipment to manufacture aerospace-grade sheet metal components., • Utilize CNC-controlled machinery including turret punches, press brakes, routers, lasers, shears, and related fabrication systems., • Load programs, perform machine setups, and make necessary adjustments to ensure accurate production results., • Position and secure materials using supports, tooling, fixtures, and alignment devices., • Retrieve and verify raw materials according to job travelers, work orders, and production schedules., • Review blueprints, CAD drawings, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation prior to production., • Determine required dimensions, tolerances, bend locations, and material specifications from engineering documents., • Perform measuring, marking, and layout activities using precision measuring devices and layout tools., • Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, templates, and other quality verification equipment., • Ensure fabricated components meet dimensional requirements and customer quality expectations., • Monitor equipment performance and conduct routine preventative maintenance activities., • Troubleshoot minor machine issues and report equipment concerns when necessary., • Maintain accurate production standards while meeting schedule commitments., • Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, and productivity., • Keep workstations organized and maintain compliance with housekeeping standards., • Follow all company policies, manufacturing processes, and operating procedures., • Demonstrate safe work practices and actively participate in hazard identification and risk reduction efforts., • Assist with additional manufacturing duties as needed to support operational requirements., • Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality. Level II Employees May Also: • Provide instruction, coaching, and technical guidance to entry-level operators., • Support cross-training initiatives and promote consistency in fabrication processes.Required Qualifications, • Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication, preferably within an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment., • Ability to operate CNC fabrication equipment and related production machinery., • Experience working with turret punches, press brakes, lasers, shears, routers, or comparable equipment., • Knowledge of computer-controlled manufacturing systems and machine interfaces., • Ability to perform machine setups, tooling changes, and operational adjustments., • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications., • Understanding of manufacturing tolerances, bend deductions, and fabrication requirements., • Experience using precision inspection tools to verify product conformance., • Basic machine troubleshooting and equipment maintenance knowledge., • Strong focus on workmanship, accuracy, and quality control., • Ability to work independently while following established procedures and safety requirements., • Comfortable working in a production environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.Physical Requirements, • Frequently lift, move, push, or carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds., • Ability to bend, kneel, squat, reach, twist, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday., • Ability to remain standing, walking, or seated for extended periods depending on production needs., • Capable of working safely around industrial machinery and fabrication equipment.Preferred Qualifications, • Aerospace manufacturing experience., • Background working with precision metal components and tight-tolerance fabrication., • Familiarity with quality management systems and inspection documentation., • Understanding of welding symbols, weld specifications, and engineering documentation., • Experience mentoring or training production personnel., • Exposure to CAD-generated manufacturing prints and advanced fabrication processes.Benefits Our employees receive a comprehensive benefits package designed to support their health, financial well-being, and work-life balance. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
