Hamilton Building Supply is seeking a detail-orientated and proactive Fleet Supervisor to oversee daily fleet operations, dispatching, driver coordination, and fleet maintenance. The Fleet Supervisor is responsible for organizing delivery workflow, directing driver/loaders, ensuring products are loaded and unloaded safely and accurately, and supporting timely, customer-focused deliveries. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires strong communication, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced operations environment. Pay is commensurate with experience Daily Responsibilities of the Fleet Supervisor: • Oversee daily fleet operations, dispatching, delivery coordination, and driver/loader workflow., • Supervise, direct, and evaluate driver/loaders to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient loading, unloading, handling, and delivery of products., • Coordinate daily route dispatching based on customer needs, load requirements, delivery destinations, and business priorities., • Ensure deliveries are completed promptly, accurately, safely, and in full, with a strong focus on customer service., • Work with sales associates, operations, warehouse, and yard teams to plan same-day and next-day deliveries., • Draft and distribute driver schedules, adjust coverage as needed, and communicate schedule changes clearly., • Monitor product movement, delivery status, dispatch needs, and related workflow using company systems and software., • Conduct routine inspections related to vehicles, loads, delivery readiness, equipment, and safety compliance., • Maintain complete and accurate driver qualification files, vehicle maintenance records, inspection records, and related documentation in compliance with DOT and company policies., • Coordinate with vendors for repairs, preventive maintenance, parts procurement, and fleet service needs., • Train employees and reinforce safe lifting, loading, unloading, load securement, equipment use, PPE expectations, and fleet safety procedures., • Assess the efficiency and performance of dispatch and delivery activities; identify and recommend improvements to workflow, safety, service, and productivity., • Manage departmental payroll and related administrative responsibilities accurately and timely., • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety and care., • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications of the Fleet Supervisor: • High school diploma or equivalent required, • 5+ years of experience dispatching a multi- faceted fleet specifically CDL Class B vehicles and box trucks., • Previous leadership, team lead, foreman, or supervisory experience required., • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required., • Ability to obtain a company-paid physical performed by the MRO of HBS’s choice and maintain a valid MEC/DOT card indicating physical qualification to drive., • Ability to receive a negative drug screen in compliance with Part 390 of the FMCSRs, specifically as it relates to Section 392.4, Drugs and Other Substances., • Working knowledge of DOT requirements, driver qualification files, vehicle maintenance records, fleet documentation, and safety compliance preferred., • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, customers, vendors, coworkers, and leadership via phone, text, email, or internal platforms., • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment., • Ability to remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions, and adjust quickly to changing delivery needs., • Knowledge of lumber, millwork, building materials, and delivery operations required Physical Requirements of the Fleet Supervisor: This is a hands-on supervisory role that requires regular movement throughout the yard, warehouse, loading areas, and fleet areas. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb in and out of vehicles, and work outdoors in various weather conditions. Must be able to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds and up to 150 pounds with assistance. Must be able to work around trucks, forklifts, loaders, delivery vehicles, and other heavy equipment in an active operations environment.
