Job DescriptionJob Title: WelderJob Description This role focuses on performing high-quality welding and assembly work on primarily steel components, with occasional stainless steel and aluminum, in a busy shop environment. You follow detailed directions, weld symbols, schematics, and blueprints to fabricate and assemble parts to precise specifications, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities • Read and interpret weld symbols, schematics, and blueprints to understand project requirements and fabrication details., • Select appropriate metals and materials, then measure, cut, and join them according to specifications and quality standards., • Prepare metals and work surfaces to ensure safe, effective, and accurate welding and assemblage., • Perform MIG welding as the primary process, with occasional TIG welding on stainless steel or aluminum as needed., • Regularly clean, inspect, and maintain welding equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure proper operation and safety., • Safely operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and other lift-assist devices to move materials and assemblies within the shop., • Test each assembly for proper fit and function, making adjustments as needed to meet design and performance requirements., • Inspect parts using precision measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, squares, micrometers, and protractors., • Accurately track and log assembly time on time sheets for each project to support production planning and documentation., • Properly identify, follow, and document Quality Management System (QMS) and departmental procedures., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all safety standards and plant rules., • Test the strength and integrity of each weld and joint during and after project completion to ensure reliability., • Liaise with leadership to report issues, suggest improvements, and support continuous process enhancement., • Follow all plant safety protocols and guidelines when operating equipment and performing welding tasks., • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production goals and team objectives.Essential Skills, • Demonstrated ability to follow directions and work from weld symbols, schematics, and blueprints., • Strong MIG welding skills, primarily on steel components., • Ability to perform TIG welding, especially for occasional stainless steel or aluminum work., • Proficiency in selecting, measuring, cutting, and joining metals to meet exact specifications., • Experience preparing metals and work surfaces for safe and effective welding and assembly., • Capability to test assemblies for proper fit, function, and joint strength., • Skill in inspecting parts with precision measuring tools, including tape measures, calipers, squares, micrometers, and protractors., • Ability to safely operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and other lift-assist tools in a shop environment., • Strong attention to detail in documenting QMS and departmental procedures and completing time sheets accurately., • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work area and following all safety standards and plant rules., • Must pass both a written weld test and a bench weld test as part of the qualification process.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Familiarity with working in a large, busy shop environment sectioned by departments., • Comfort working with steel as the primary material, with occasional stainless steel or aluminum projects., • Ability to communicate effectively with leadership and team members to report issues and support process improvements., • Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned to support overall production and team success., • Understanding of quality management principles and departmental procedures in a manufacturing or industrial setting.Why Work Here? Work Environment You work in a large shop environment that is divided into departments and consistently active with ongoing projects. The facility is not climate-controlled, but conditions are managed with fans and heaters to maintain a workable environment throughout the year. You use welding equipment, precision measuring tools, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other lift-assist devices as part of your daily tasks. The setting emphasizes safety, adherence to plant rules, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace, with attire focused on safe, practical clothing suitable for welding and industrial shop work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Saint Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $29.25 - $30.25/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
