Job Description Job Title: Diesel Mechanic FT LAUDERDALE Job Description We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to support our overnight operations at a heavy industrial site. This role is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel-powered equipment and mobile fleet vehicles used in cement, aggregates, or similar industrial operations. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically strong, and comfortable working extended hours in a fast-paced industrial environment. Responsibilities • Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on diesel-powered equipment, including heavy-duty trucks, tractors, loaders, forklifts, haul trucks, and industrial support equipment., • Troubleshoot engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and air brake systems., • Perform overnight repairs to minimize downtime and support continuous production operations., • Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment meets DOT and company standards., • Complete routine service tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, belt and hose repairs., • Accurately document maintenance work, inspections, and repairs., • Follow all OSHA, MSHA, and company safety policies., • Communicate equipment status and repair needs with supervisors and operations teams. Essential Skills • 3+ years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic., • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics., • Ability to read schematics, service manuals, and diagnostic materials., • Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plus., • Own basic hand tools (specialty tools provided)., • Ability to work in dusty, noisy, and outdoor industrial environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Ready-mix industry knowledge or related industry experience is a plus., • Electrical experience up to 480 VAC and control systems is a plus., • Willingness to train and become certified in Brakes, AC Systems, Hydraulics, Welding, & Pneumatics. Work Environment Open garage environment in a gravel field, with hot conditions due to work being conducted in a shaded outdoor area. Training schedule is from 6am-6pm for about 2 weeks, switching to overnight shifts post-training to align with driver schedules. Work schedule starts at 6:00am until finish, which may include 12-hour shifts with overnight hours. The work location is between multiple sites, including Pennsuco Ready Mix, South Miami, Buena Vista, and Fort Lauderdale. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
