Job Description Job Title: Cook Job Description This part-time Cook position supports a hospital-based kitchen by preparing and cooking food according to established recipes and standards. You will work approximately 20 hours per week on a set schedule that includes early morning and daytime shifts, with an every-other-weekend rotation. The role focuses on delivering consistent, high-quality meals in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining strict food safety and sanitation standards. Responsibilities • Prepare and cook food according to established recipes, portion guidelines, and food-service standards., • Assist with breakfast preparation and service, ensuring timely and accurate meal delivery., • Work the grill and prepare menu items as needed, following menu specifications and customer requests., • Support food preparation activities, including chopping, measuring, assembling ingredients, and organizing supplies., • Perform general kitchen duties such as setting up workstations, restocking items, and organizing equipment., • Perform light dishwashing and cleanup when necessary to support smooth kitchen operations., • Maintain cleanliness and organization of food preparation areas, cooking stations, and kitchen equipment., • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and healthcare facility procedures, including proper storage, labeling, and handling of food., • Work effectively as part of the dietary and food service team to meet production and service timelines., • Assist with tray line or food production tasks to support meal service within the facility., • Complete other kitchen duties as assigned to ensure efficient and safe operation of the kitchen. Essential Skills • Basic cooking experience in a professional or institutional kitchen environment., • Previous food service, cooking, or kitchen experience preferred., • Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment., • Ability to follow recipes, written instructions, and food safety procedures accurately., • Ability to work independently and as part of a team., • Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain consistent attendance., • Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and safe food handling practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience as a line cook, food prep worker, or dishwasher is an advantage., • Experience in food production or tray line service is beneficial., • Healthcare food service experience is a plus, but not required., • Experience in hospitality or prior work in institutional food service environments is helpful., • Willingness to perform a variety of kitchen tasks, including prep, cooking, and light dishwashing. Work Environment This position is based in a hospital kitchen environment in Massachusetts. You will work approximately 20 hours per week with scheduled shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday and Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with an every-other-weekend rotation. Weekend shifts may include both Saturday and Sunday, and additional weekday shifts may be discussed during the interview. The kitchen is fast-paced and service-oriented, supporting patient, staff, and visitor meals within a healthcare facility. You will work around hot equipment, grills, and standard commercial kitchen tools, and you will be expected to follow all hospital and food service safety, sanitation, and cleanliness protocols at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milton, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
