It's about anticipating needs, communicating clearly, and making sure every detail comes together for the guest.We're Looking for Someone Who:Takes pride in creating polished, well-executed eventsCan read and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and translate them into a successful event setup and service planIs comfortable leading pre-shifts, assigning responsibilities, and directing banquet servers during eventsCommunicates clearly and professionally with guests, event hosts, culinary teams, and fellow employeesCan manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detailUses good judgment when responding to guest concerns or changes during an eventUnderstands proper banquet service, room setup, clearing, buffet, beverage, and money-handling proceduresIs comfortable taking ownership of an event from setup through closeoutMaintains a friendly, service-oriented demeanor even in fast-paced situationsIs flexible and able to work varying schedules based on banquet and event needsWhat You'll DoAs a Banquet Captain, you'll direct banquet staff during catered functions and oversee events from setup through completion, ensuring service is organized, accurate, and consistent with the BEO and established standards.Responsibilities include:Attend BEO meetings when the Banquet Manager is unavailableRead and understand BEOs and ensure event rooms are set according to specificationsComplete a quality inspection of event spaces before functions beginOversee events from start to finish and ensure food and beverage items are presented and served correctlyMonitor special requests and instructions outlined on the BEOSet a sample table and demonstrate proper table serviceCoordinate table assignments, buffet lines, coffee breaks, and the overall order and flow of serviceConduct effective pre-shift meetings, assign side duties, and direct banquet servers throughout the eventCommunicate directly with culinary teams during service to support timely and accurate guest serviceIntroduce yourself to the event host or group leader and serve as a primary point of contact during the functionRespond to guest questions, complaints, or concerns professionally and promptlyPrepare and submit required event paperwork, including consumption reports, pre-shift summaries, end-of-day summaries, inventory, and other documentation needed for accurate billingImmediately communicate food or beverage quality concerns to banquet managementMaintain clean and organized service stations and ensure proper in-room clearing and breakdown proceduresFollow guest-check and money-handling procedures for a-la-carte and beverage ordersComplete assigned side work and Banquet Critiques at the end of each shiftPost and close banquet checks as neededAssist the Banquet Manager with the weekly schedule and complete scheduling responsibilities when the Banquet Manager is unavailableKnow the menu for each function and be able to explain major ingredients and preparation methodsUse suggestive-selling techniques when appropriatePerform other duties and responsibilities as assignedThe Ideal Candidate Is:Experienced in hotel banquet food and beverage service, with at least two years of related experienceComfortable providing direction and oversight to banquet service teams during eventsAble to read and clearly communicate event instructions and BEO detailsCustomer-service focused and confident interacting directly with event hosts and guestsAble to communicate effectively with banquet leadership, culinary teams, coworkers, and guestsAble to work efficiently in narrow event spaces and maneuver between seated guestsHigh school graduate or equivalentDependable, organized, flexible, and able to remain composed during busy eventsScheduleFlexible schedule based on banquet and event needsScheduled days and times may vary based on business needsPhysical RequirementsThis is an active banquet-service position that requires continuous standing and regular movement throughout event spaces.Standing/Mobility: Continuous standing during guest functions and the ability to maneuver through narrow areas and between seated guestsLifting/Carrying: Ability to lift and carry trays, dish racks, glass racks, and other items generally weighing 20–40 lbs.;
