Prepare surfaces meticulously through sanding, buffing, and automotive surface preparation techniques to ensure optimal paint adhesion. Operate automotive buffing machines and detailing tools to achieve a smooth, high-quality finish on painted surfaces. Manage auto restoration projects by assessing damage, estimating repair scope, and executing repairs efficiently while maintaining quality standards. Follow safety protocols diligently by using respiratory protection and other PPE during spray painting and surface preparation processes. Assist with auto glass replacement or repair when necessary and support vehicle maintenance tasks as part of the overall repair process. Requirements Proven experience in auto body repair or auto restoration within a dealership or collision center environment. Strong welding skills combined with mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, grinders, sanders, buffing machines, and spray guns for painting and coating applications. Knowledge of automotive surface preparation techniques including masking, sanding, and priming. Experience with conventional spraying methods and airless paint spraying equipment for auto painting projects. Familiarity with automotive buffing, detailing, auto glass work, and heavy lifting required for handling large panels or parts. Ability to read auto estimating reports and communicate effectively with customers regarding repair processes. Mechanic experience is a plus—especially understanding vehicle maintenance procedures—along with dealership experience preferred.
