Job Description Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Electrician Job Description This role focuses on troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing industrial electrical systems, controls, and production equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance, support new equipment startup and commissioning, and ensure reliable operation of automation and processing lines. The position requires strong industrial electrical expertise, the ability to work with PLC-controlled systems, and a commitment to maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation. Responsibilities • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial electrical systems, controls, and production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain safe, efficient operations., • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing and processing equipment according to established schedules and procedures., • Install, maintain, and modify electrical components such as motors, starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, relays, switches, and control panels., • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and assist with programming modifications and adjustments as needed to support production requirements., • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, ladder logic, and technical manuals to support effective troubleshooting and installations., • Support the startup, commissioning, and optimization of new production equipment and automation systems., • Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions to reduce recurring issues and improve equipment reliability., • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and documentation within the CMMS system, ensuring all activities are properly logged and traceable., • Troubleshoot and repair industrial automation equipment including conveyors, sensors, HMIs, and VFDs., • Install and route conduit and wiring for new and existing equipment, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and safety standards., • Work with 24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC, and three-phase electrical systems safely and effectively., • Collaborate with operations and other maintenance team members to prioritize work, support production schedules, and improve overall equipment performance., • Work overtime, weekends, holidays, or participate in on-call schedules as needed to support production and maintenance needs. Essential Skills • Strong industrial electrical troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing, food processing, packaging, or production environment., • Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining industrial electrical systems, including 24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC, and three-phase electrical systems., • Hands-on experience with PLC controls and troubleshooting, including systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms., • Ability to troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and assist with programming modifications., • Experience troubleshooting industrial automation equipment, including conveyors, sensors, HMIs, and VFDs., • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, blueprints, and technical drawings., • Demonstrated experience performing preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on industrial and manufacturing equipment., • Proficiency in electrical wiring, conduit installation, and working with 480V three-phase wiring., • Experience using CMMS systems for maintenance documentation and work order management (preferred but strongly valued)., • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or on-call schedules as needed to support production demands., • Journeyman Electrician certification, Electrical Trainee Card, or equivalent industrial electrical training strongly preferred., • Familiarity with troubleshooting and maintaining variable frequency drives (VFDs) and related control systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in a food manufacturing or food processing environment is a plus, including familiarity with industry practices and equipment., • Working knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, including preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance programs., • Experience with industrial automation, including conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and related systems., • Experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial setting, with exposure to automation and production equipment., • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLC troubleshooting and related control hardware., • Basic welding skills and experience working with industrial fabrication or repairs are beneficial., • Ability to interpret and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and good manufacturing practices (GMPs), especially in food production environments., • Strong troubleshooting mindset, with the ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions., • Comfort working around complex machinery with many moving parts in a production setting. Work Environment The role is based in a food production facility with many moving parts and active production lines, requiring strong awareness of safety and equipment operation. You will work in an environment that follows food industry Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), with strict adherence to cleanliness and process standards. Everyone starts on the day shift, and after an initial period of approximately one month, transitions to a regular assigned shift based on operational needs. The position involves working around industrial automation, conveyors, electrical panels, and other processing equipment, with exposure to typical production noise and conditions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sacramento, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $49.40 - $50.39/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
