The Role You will play a key role within our Criminal Defence Team, supporting solicitors whilst managing your own responsibilities and client interactions. Your duties will include: • Attending police stations and advising clients under your Police Station Accreditation., • Assisting solicitors with the preparation and progression of criminal cases., • Preparing legal documents, statements and correspondence., • Liaising with clients, courts, the Crown Prosecution Service, counsel and third parties., • Managing case files from opening through to conclusion., • Ensuring all cases are progressed efficiently and in line with court deadlines., • Maintaining accurate records, attendance notes and time recording., • Supporting advocacy preparation and trial preparation., • Delivering exceptional levels of client care throughout the client journey., • Assisting the department with compliance requirements, Legal Aid administration and quality standards. What We're Looking For Essential Requirements • Current Police Station Accreditation (PSAR)., • Experience working within criminal law., • Excellent client care skills., • Strong organisational and file management abilities., • Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise workloads., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills., • Strong attention to detail., • Full UK driving licence and access to transport. Desirable • Experience dealing with Legal Aid matters., • Magistrates' Court experience., • Experience using legal case management systems., • A desire to progress towards qualification as a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive.
