This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or finalist / QBE accountant looking to take on an opportunity to manage their own portfolio of clients with exposure to a broad range of clients and accounting assignments within a supportive general practice environment. \n Part of a wider group, the firm combines the stability and resources of a larger organisation with the friendly, collaborative culture of a family practice. The business continues to grow and offers excellent long-term career prospects for ambitious individuals as well as a fantastic work-life balance with great flexibility around working hours. \n Role \n The successful candidate will manage their own portfolio of clients, providing a proactive and high-quality service across accounts, taxation, and advisory matters. This is a client-facing role requiring strong technical expertise, commercial awareness, and the ability to build long-term client relationships.The Senior Accountant will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of SMEs, limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders, acting as a trusted adviser while ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. \n Responsibilities \n Portfolio Management \n\n • Manage a portfolio of clients across a range of industries.\n, • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing timely advice and support.\n, • Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities to add value.\n\n Accounts Preparation \n\n • Review and prepare statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.\n, • Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, FRS102, and FRS105 requirements.\n, • Review work completed by junior team members and provide constructive feedback.\n, • Liaise with clients to resolve technical and accounting queries.\n\n Tax Compliance \n\n • Review corporation tax returns and computations.\n, • Review personal tax returns for directors, business owners, and high-net-worth individuals.\n, • Identify tax planning opportunities and discuss recommendations with clients.\n, • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK tax legislation.\n\n Advisory Services \n\n • Support clients with management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.\n, • Provide business and financial advice to help clients achieve their objectives.\n, • Support directors and partners with specialist projects and consultancy assignments.\n\n Team Leadership \n\n • Mentor and develop junior accountants and trainees.\n, • Review work and ensure compliance with firm standards.\n\n Person Specification \n\n • ACA or ACCA qualified or finalist or QBE\n, • Strong background working within an accountancy practice environment.\n, • Experience managing a client portfolio independently.\n, • Excellent knowledge of accounts preparation a\n, • Experience reviewing and supervising the work of junior staff.\n, • Strong communication and relationship management skills.\n, • Commercially minded with a proactive approach to client service.\n\n BENEFITS \n -Hybrid working - 3 days in the office \n -core hours 10-3 \n -28 days holiday + BH \n -Opportunity to work condensed hours 5 days in 4 or 10 in 9 \n -Laid back, relaxed office - dog friendly \n -Additional bonus for new clients/ cross selling \n -Staff parties / events / monthly draws \n
