Metrology / CMM Engineer\n Shape the future of precision engineering \n Are you ready to take ownership of metrology at a strategic level—not just program machines, but redefine how measurement drives performance across an entire engineering group? \n We’re looking for a forward-thinking Metrology / CMM Engineer to lead the transformation of measurement practices across multiple sites. This is a high-impact role where you’ll move beyond day-to-day programming and step into a position of influence—building a unified, best-in-class metrology strategy that improves accuracy, efficiency, and productivity. The Opportunity\n You’ll be the driving force behind a Group-wide metrology evolution, starting with CMM optimisation and expanding into a fully standardised measurement framework. \n From analysing current processes to implementing cutting-edge strategies, your work will directly impact: \n\n • Measurement accuracy and repeatability\n, • Production throughput and efficiency\n, • Reduction of waste and over-processing\n, • Standardisation across multiple engineering environments\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\n Evaluate & Challenge the Status Quo \n\n • Review existing CMM programs, measurement strategies, and inspection frequencies\n, • Identify inefficiencies in equipment use, software, and processes\n, • Conduct site visits to assess capability, performance, and best practices\n\n Design the Future of Metrology \n\n • Build and deploy a Group-wide CMM & Metrology Strategy\n, • Standardise programming methods, inspection plans, and reporting structures\n, • Define training frameworks and competency standards\n\n Optimise & Innovate \n\n • Reduce cycle times through smarter probing strategies and routines\n, • Introduce automation and minimise operator intervention\n, • Improve throughput via fixturing, offline programming, and advanced techniques\n\n Lead & Influence \n\n • Act as the technical authority for metrology across the business\n, • Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Design, and Operations teams\n, • Support audits, customer requirements, and new product introductions\nWhat You Bring\n\n, • Strong experience as a CMM Programmer/Engineer in aerospace or precision engineering\n, • Expertise in\n, • (or similar CMM software)\n, • Solid understanding of GD&T, complex geometries, and engineering drawings\n, • Proven ability in MSA, SPC, and capability studies\n, • Experience improving or standardising metrology processes across sites\n\n Bonus points if you have: \n\n • Exposure to advanced metrology (laser scanning, CT, non-contact systems)\n, • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement\n, • A degree or HNC/HND in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing)\n, • CMM or metrology certifications\nWhy This Role Stands Out\n This isn’t just another engineering job. It’s a chance to: \n\n • Influence strategy at a group level\n, • Work across multiple sites and technologies\n, • Drive real, measurable improvements in performance\n, • Be recognised as a technical leader in metrology\nReady to Lead Precision?\n If you’re passionate about measurement, driven by improvement, and ready to step into a role where your expertise shapes the bigger picture, this is your next move.
