    This isnt another care job... 1:1 Support — Complex Behaviour & Mobility Needs About the role Links Support Solutions is looking for a compassionate, confident and physically capable Support Worker to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a gentleman in his 30s with Down syndrome who lives at home with his family and attends our day service full-time. He is a genuinely warm, affectionate and engaging individual who loves being around people. He thrives on positive relationships, enjoys spending time with his friends and forms strong bonds with trusted support staff. Music is a huge part of his day, with Bruno Mars being a particular favourite. He has a fantastic sense of humour and a mischievous personality, often enjoying playful interactions with those around him. He can keep you on your toes and brings plenty of laughter to those who know him well. He has limited verbal communication but understands far more than he is able to express. He is able to use some Makaton signing, although he can sometimes be reluctant to do so, so the successful candidate will need patience, excellent communication skills and the ability to encourage interaction in a calm, positive and consistent way. Like many people with communication difficulties, he can sometimes become frustrated when he is unable to express his needs, wishes or feelings. On occasions, this frustration may present as behaviours of concern, including physical aggression. These behaviours are not reflective of his true personality but are his way of communicating that something is wrong or that he needs support. With patience, consistency, positive behaviour support and the right relationship, he responds extremely well and is able to build strong, trusting connections. Due to his weight, he requires some support when walking longer distances and benefits from encouragement to remain active and engaged in healthy routines. The role includes supporting him to access the community, participate in meaningful activities, enjoy social opportunities and maintain an active lifestyle in a safe and enjoyable way. We are looking for someone who is calm under pressure, resilient, reliable and physically capable. The successful candidate will be confident in setting clear and consistent boundaries while providing compassionate, person-centred support that promotes independence, dignity and wellbeing.
