Job summaryThe Clinical Measurement team in the Medical Physics department of the University Hospitals Tees Group has a vacancy for a consultant clinical scientist. This role is responsible for leading a team of clinical scientists, clinical technologists and healthcare practitioners who deliver a wide range of services. The post holder will also manage the medical photography/illustration teams operating across the group.The section provides a number of specialist services, for example intra-operative monitoring, the home pulse oximetry service and manufactures of bespoke devices/living aids. The section has very strong links with the Group innovation teams.Main duties of the jobLead, maintain and develop scientific clinical services within Clinical Measurement and Medical Photography and actively innovate and lead research and development.The post holder will manage artificial optical radiation (AOR) safety across the Trust, acting as Laser Protection Advisor to the Trust, or liaising with same.Has responsibility to ensure the safety of patients, staff and the general public for the use of medical AOR by the organisation.Leading and fostering a culture that values, protects and uses information for the success of the organisation and benefit of its customersLead Clinical Measurement and Medical Photography/Illustration services and act as Consultant Clinical ScientistLead service planning, development, and implementation of new services.Lead and contribute to research, audit, and clinical governance activitiesLead specification, selection, justification of equipment and services and management across full lifecycle, ensuring compliance with statutory requirementsDeliver financial targets for the Clinical Measurement and Medical Photography sectionsAbout usSouth Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust have come together to form University Hospitals Tees.
