Locum Litigation Lawyer – Housing Disrepair \n\n • Job Type: Temporary (12 weeks)\n, • Location: Hybrid (2 days in the office, must include Thursdays)\n, • Working Hours: 37 hours per week (Core hours with some flexibility)\n, • Start Date: 1st September\n\n My client is seeking an experienced and motivated Locum Litigation Lawyer to join their Legal Services team. This role is crucial for managing a complex litigation caseload, particularly focusing on housing disrepair, and providing high-quality legal advice within a local authority setting. \n Day-to-day of the role: \n\n • Manage a varied caseload of civil and criminal litigation matters, with a focus on complex housing disrepair cases.\n, • Represent the client in various courts including Magistrates’, County, and High Courts.\n, • Provide expert legal advice to Members, officers, and stakeholders.\n, • Draft legal documents, notices, reports, and court documentation.\n, • Support key service areas within housing and disrepair claims.\n, • Instruct and liaise with Counsel and external professionals.\n, • Support and develop junior team members, including trainees.\n, • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Litigation Team.\n\n Required Skills & Qualifications: \n\n • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (with rights of audience in England & Wales), or experienced Paralegal.\n, • Extensive experience in housing-related disrepair claims.\n, • Strong experience in litigation, ideally within housing and/or planning law.\n, • Knowledge of court procedures across Magistrates’, County, and High Courts.\n, • Excellent legal drafting, analytical, and research skills.\n, • Ability to interpret and apply complex legislation.\n, • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.\n, • Confident communicator able to engage with a range of stakeholders.\n\n Key Skills & Behaviours: \n\n • Ability to work well under pressure and take ownership of caseload.\n, • Sound judgement and problem-solving skills.\n, • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.\n, • Proactive and forward-thinking in delivering legal advice.\n, • Professionalism in challenging situations.\n\n
