Purchasing OfficerWe are delighted to have an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Officer to join our client on a permanent basis. This is an 'in person' role located in Hartlepool. Our client seeks a highly organised and commercially minded Purchasing Officer to join the Commercial team.Hours of work are Monday-Friday 08:00am - 16:30pm.Role OverviewThis role involves sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials, chemicals, equipment, and services to support our operations. You will play a key role in ensuring cost efficiency, maintaining supplier performance, and supporting uninterrupted production while adhering to quality, safety, and environmental standards.Key Responsibilities:Ensure cost effective procurement of purchasing requirements across the business.Sourcing of raw materials and consumables including identification and approval of suppliers including carrying out audits.Maintaining purchasing procedures and ensuring these are complied with.Negotiating purchase contracts to ensure pricing, leadtime and terms are optimal.Liasing with Commercial team and Production to ensure materials are scheduled against orders.Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production teams to avoid shortages or overstocking.Placing purchase orders as required to support all departmentsLiaising with suppliers and monitoring supplier performance.Accountable for ensuring that Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental Standards are applied in all production plant areas in accordance with Exwold policies, guidlines and procedures.Skills Required:Educated to A-level standard or equivalent vocational qualification levels with GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and EnglishChartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Level 3 or above (or equivalentPrevious experience in a purchasing, procurement, or a supply chain roleUnderstanding of supplier management and contract negotiationExperience within manufacturing, chemical, or industrial environments (desirable)Familiarity with ERP systems is highly advantagous (e.g. Navision or similar)Knowledge of inventory control and supply chain processes would be beneficial.Additional Information:Competitive salary, 23 days holiday plus bank holidays.Due to the high volume of applications received, individual feedback cannot always be provided. Step 4 - NEBOSH Exams The final step will be to sit the official NEBOSH exams, which we will book for you once you are ready. The exams can be sat in one of the official NEBOSH testing centres, or online. Your Job Upon Completion Once you have completed all of the mandatory training and exams, we will place you into an entry level health & safety role as either a advisor, officer or coordinator, where you will be guaranteed a starting salary of £25K-£40K. Responsibilities: • Maintain and manage health and safety polices, safety training and document control systems • Maintain, update and create standard operating procedures and assist in the implementation of continuous improvement safety projects • Ensure all health & safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to, regularly reviewed, updated and communicated • Complete regular reviews of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations • Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommend improvements • Conduct safety inspections, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed, and employees are aware of their responsibilities At a one off cost of £1095, or a deposit of £162 followed by 10 interest free monthly instalments of £113, this represents a great opportunity to start a rewarding career in health & safety and have a real career ladder to start climbing.
