The General Manager will have overall responsibility for the performance, growth and strategic development of our Oil & Gas Manufacturing and Industrial Services business in Aberdeen. \n \n The role will lead a multidisciplinary operation supporting customers across the energy sector, including oil & gas operators, EPCs, OEMs, manufacturers, fabrication companies and other industrial clients. \n \n The General Manager will have accountability for P&L performance, commercial growth, operational execution, customer relationships, quality, health & safety and organizational development. The successful candidate will combine strong operational leadership with a commercial mindset and a deep understanding of the oil & gas and industrial manufacturing market. \n \n \n \n Key Responsibilities \n Business Leadership & P&L Management \n\n • Assume full operational and financial accountability for the Aberdeen business.\n, • Develop and execute the annual business plan, budget and longer-term strategic plan.\n, • Deliver revenue, EBITDA, margin and cash-flow objectives.\n, • Establish clear operational and financial KPIs and ensure performance against plan.\n, • Identify opportunities to improve utilization, productivity, pricing, gross margin and overall profitability.\n, • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of market dynamics, competitive activity and customer requirements.\n, • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.\n\n \n Commercial Growth \n\n • Develop and execute a commercial strategy focused on profitable growth within the Aberdeen and wider North Sea market.\n, • Build senior-level relationships with major oil & gas operators, EPCs, OEMs, manufacturers, fabrication companies and supply-chain organizations.\n, • Identify opportunities to expand SGS services within existing accounts.\n, • Develop new business opportunities across inspection, testing, manufacturing surveillance, quality assurance, laboratory services and technical support.\n, • Partner with SGS sales and global business lines to develop cross-selling and strategic account opportunities.\n, • Monitor competitive activity and ensure SGS maintains a differentiated market position.\n, • Participate in major tenders, framework agreements and strategic customer negotiations.\n, • Develop partnerships and relationships throughout the regional energy ecosystem.\n\n \n Operations & Manufacturing Services \n\n • Provide leadership for all operational activities associated with the Aberdeen business.\n, • Ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to customer requirements.\n, • Oversee manufacturing inspection, vendor surveillance, quality inspection, testing and associated technical services.\n, • Ensure appropriate staffing, equipment, facilities and technical resources are available to meet customer demand.\n, • Improve resource utilization, scheduling, productivity and operational efficiency.\n, • Establish and maintain robust processes for project execution and customer delivery.\n, • Ensure appropriate management of subcontractors and external service providers.\n, • Identify operational risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.\n\n \n Qualifications \n \n The ideal candidate will be an experienced General Manager, Business Unit Director, Operations Director or senior commercial/operations leader with significant experience in the oil & gas, energy, industrial services, manufacturing, inspection, testing, engineering or related sectors. \n \n The individual should bring a combination of: \n\n • Proven P&L management experience.\n, • Strong commercial and business-development capability.\n, • Experience leading an operationally complex business.\n, • Experience managing technical and engineering teams.\n, • Strong understanding of the oil & gas supply chain.\n, • Knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication, inspection or testing environments.\n, • Experience working with major oil & gas operators and/or EPC organizations.\n, • Strong understanding of QHSE and quality-management systems.\n, • Demonstrated ability to improve profitability and operational performance.\n, • Strong customer and stakeholder-management skills.\n, • Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed, multinational organization.\n\n \n
