Have you led a kitchen porter team before? This job puts you in charge of the pot wash across a whole site. A contract caterer in King's Cross is looking for a Kitchen Porter Supervisor. You will lead a team of fifteen kitchen porters at a large corporate site in London. Permanent, full time, Monday to Friday, Β£17.72 an hour. On site, the job is called Head Kitchen Porter. The role As Kitchen Porter Supervisor you run the pot wash across the site. There are four kitchens, two large pot wash areas and two smaller ones. Your team of fifteen kitchen porters covers dish wash, deep cleaning, and getting clean plates and cutlery back to the kitchen. You decide who works where. You set the standard. When it is busy, you are on the machines with your team. About a third of this job is supervisor work away from the sink. You write the weekly rota for fifteen kitchen porters. You arrange cover when someone is off. You order cleaning chemicals and pot wash supplies from suppliers. You keep the deep clean schedules and cleaning records up to date for all four kitchens. So you need to be comfortable using a computer, working in spreadsheets and answering emails. Another team looks after deliveries each day, so goods in is not your job. You will help with deliveries during holidays and when a big delivery arrives. The rest of the job is on the floor. You train new kitchen porters on the pot wash machines, on COSHH and on kitchen hygiene. You keep the dry store dated and rotated. You look after waste and recycling. When the kitchen needs something cleaned or moved quickly, you are the person who sorts it out. New pot wash machines are currently being fitted, so you will be working with new equipment. This is a site where back of house is treated as an important part of the operation. What is on offer Β£17.72 an hour, just under Β£37,000 a year 40 hours a week over five days, Monday to Friday Site closed weekends and bank holidays Paid overtime at the same rate, including the odd evening, no more than once a week Permanent, full time contract Free food on shift Brand new pot wash equipment being installed Funded training, including Food Safety Level 2 and health and safety qualifications The site is closed at weekends and on bank holidays. Every Saturday and Sunday is yours, and so is every bank holiday. A lot of people move here from hotels and restaurants for that, and the pay stays strong. This is a large catering company with sites across London. They train their own back of house supervisors. There are funded qualifications, new equipment, and a route into BOH and kitchen porter management for people who stay. If you want a long career in back of house, this company will support it. What we are looking for At least three years as a kitchen porter or KP in a busy kitchen. At least one of those years as a KP supervisor or team leader. You have already run a pot wash or BOH team, so this is the same kind of job at a new site. A hotel background fits well here, because you will already know how several kitchens and high volume work. Contract catering, staff restaurants and busy restaurants also fit well. You have written kitchen porter rotas, arranged cover at short notice and trained new KPs. You can tell us about a pot wash team that ran better because you were the one running it. Computer and admin skills used in a kitchen. Writing rotas for a KP team, ordering from suppliers, keeping cleaning records and deep clean schedules, and answering emails. This is a real part of the job, so please show it on your CV. You know pot wash and dish wash machines well. You are confident with cleaning schedules and cleaning chemicals. You are solid on COSHH, food safety and kitchen hygiene. Food Safety Level 2 or HACCP knowledge is useful. The company can pay for the certificate if you do not have one yet. You are hands on. The best kitchen porter supervisors see what needs doing before anyone asks, and they teach their team to see it too. Apply with a CV. Please show where you have worked, how long you were there, and how many kitchen porters you have supervised. You will speak with us first so we can talk about your experience. Then there is a video call with the client. After that there is a trial and interview on site, so you can see the kitchens and they can see you work. The client would like someone to start in the first week of September. They are happy to wait for the right person. TPAI1 TPBN1_UKCT
