Graduate Mechanical Engineer – Laboratory & Testing South Kent – drivers with own vehicle only due to location 12-Month FTC 7am – 3.30pm Monday to Friday (on site) £25,000 - £26,000 + bens Are you a recent Engineering or Science graduate looking to kick start your career?! We’re recruiting for a growing engineering business looking for a bright, practical and curious Graduate Engineer to join a small, supportive technical team. Working within a mechanical engineering laboratory environment, you’ll get involved in testing, development work, prototypes, problem-solving and engineering projects – making this a brilliant opportunity to build genuine practical experience at the start of your career. What you'll be doing • Carrying out practical testing and inspection of components and engineering processes, • Setting up and using laboratory and test equipment, • Recording results and preparing clear test documentation, • Reviewing and analysing test data, • Building and modifying prototype samples for development work, • Supporting Engineers with development and improvement projects, • Getting involved in troubleshooting and practical problem-solving, • Assisting with engineering trials and validation activities, • Helping to keep the engineering laboratory organised, safe and well maintained, • Working with different teams across the business to support technical projects What we're looking for • A degree, HNC/HND or similar qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics or another relevant discipline, • A genuinely hands-on, practical approach to engineering, • Good mechanical aptitude and an interest in understanding how things work, • Confidence working with data and basic numerical/statistical information, • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, • Good written and verbal communication skills, • Organised, methodical and able to work accurately, • Someone who enjoys solving problems and learning new things Previous industry experience isn't essential. This could suit a recent graduate looking for their first proper engineering opportunity, although candidates with some experience gained through a placement, internship, laboratory, manufacturing, testing or technical environment would also be very welcome.
