Building Surveyor / Maintenance Officer – Part Time\n Location: Wrexham \n Pay: £19.20 PAYE / £25.02 Umbrella per hour \n Hours: 21 hours per week \n Contract: 30-week temporary contract \n Start Date: 1 September 2026 \n IR35: Inside IR35 \n Opportunity: Potential extension or permanent opportunity \n Interviews: Planned for 25 August 2026 Building Surveyor / Maintenance Officer\n VNA Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor / Building Maintenance Officer to support a busy property and infrastructure team within a large organisation in the Wrexham area. \n This is an excellent part-time opportunity for someone with a strong background in building surveying, property maintenance or construction who can provide practical technical advice across a varied property portfolio. \n The successful candidate will support planned, reactive and cyclical maintenance programmes as well as refurbishment and improvement projects. You will help identify required works, prepare specifications and estimates, coordinate contractors and monitor work through to completion. \n There is also potential for the contract to be extended or for the position to become permanent. The Role\n As a Building Surveyor / Maintenance Officer, your responsibilities will include: \n\n • Supporting planned, reactive and cyclical building maintenance\n, • Providing a professional building surveying and technical support service\n, • Supporting refurbishment, improvement and maintenance projects\n, • Reviewing building condition surveys and identifying required remedial works\n, • Inspecting buildings and diagnosing maintenance issues\n, • Preparing technical recommendations and proposed solutions\n, • Producing budget estimates and cost information\n, • Preparing specifications, drawings and technical details for building works\n, • Assisting with tender documentation and contract information\n, • Preparing estimates, feasibility studies and cost plans\n, • Supporting the procurement and appointment of contractors\n, • Coordinating and monitoring contractors carrying out maintenance works\n, • Monitoring the quality and progress of works on site\n, • Assisting with certification and processing of contractor payments\n, • Responding to technical building and maintenance queries\n, • Providing advice on appropriate repair and maintenance solutions\n, • Ensuring works comply with relevant statutory requirements\n, • Supporting compliance with Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices\n, • Liaising with contractors, consultants and other professional teams\n, • Maintaining accurate records and technical documentation\n, • Visiting properties and work sites throughout the Wrexham area\nAbout You\n To be considered for this position, you should have: \n\n • Strong experience within the built environment, building maintenance, property or construction\n, • Building surveying knowledge and practical experience\n, • Experience managing or supporting planned and reactive maintenance\n, • Ability to inspect buildings and identify appropriate repair works\n, • Experience reviewing building condition surveys\n, • Ability to assess defects and make appropriate technical recommendations\n, • Experience preparing works specifications and technical documentation\n, • Understanding of construction-related statutory procedures\n, • Knowledge of procurement processes and contractor management\n, • Experience working with external contractors and consultants\n, • Good understanding of Health & Safety within building maintenance and construction\n, • Ability to manage technical queries and multiple work requests\n, • Strong organisation and workload-management skills\n, • Good written and verbal communication skills\n, • Strong stakeholder-management skills\n, • Ability to work independently and provide practical technical advice\n, • Ability to travel to properties and sites throughout the Wrexham area\nQualifications\n An HNC in a building-related subject, or a similar relevant qualification, would be highly desirable. \n Candidates should be prepared to provide copies of relevant qualifications and professional accreditations as part of the interview process.
