The Camrose Centre are a charity who, since 2008, have been supporting the vulnerably housed and homeless across Basingstoke and Deane by providing compassionate, practical support and a genuine sense of belonging. \n \n Job Description \n \n The Chair of the Board will lead the governance, strategic direction and organisational development of the charity as it enters a period of growth, expanding operations to six days a week. You will work closely with the Centre Manager and trustees to ensure the organisation is mission‑focused, well‑governed and able to deliver high‑quality support to the community. \n \n Roles & responsibilities (includes but not limited to): \n \n\n • Lead the Board to set, refine and deliver the charity’s strategic priorities.\n, • Ensure the organisation remains focused on its mission and manages risk effectively.\n, • Champion organisational development and support expansion to six‑day operations.\n, • Ensure compliance with charity law, company law and regulatory requirements.\n, • Maintain strong governance processes, clear delegation and effective decision‑making.\n, • Provide regular supervision, guidance and support to the Centre Manager.\n, • Build a cohesive, motivated Board with shared purpose and accountability.\n, • Model inclusive, compassionate leadership aligned with the charity’s values.\n, • Act as an ambassador across Basingstoke and Deane, strengthening relationships with partners, funders, faith groups, businesses and community organisations.\n, • Mobilise trustees and volunteers behind key strategic initiatives, ensuring momentum and delivery.\n, • Support the Centre Manager and Project Lead to implement the new organisational strategy.\n\n \n Essential Experience \n \n\n • Prior experience as a charity trustee, Chair or senior board member.\n, • Demonstrable leadership mobilising teams, volunteers or boards.\n, • Experience guiding organisations through change, growth or strategic projects.\n\n \n *Please note this is a voluntary position, and will require circa 1 day a week* \n
