Our client, a leading specialist in Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) projects, is seeking a skilled Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their friendly finance team. This role will have a strong focus on Sales Ledger, while also supporting the wider finance function including Purchase Ledger, payroll administration and month-end processes. Accounts Assistant Key Responsibilities: • Accounts Processing: Handle all aspects of day-to-day accounting, including purchase and sales ledger, bank reconciliations, and cash flow management., • Sage 50 Cloud Expertise: Utilise Sage 50 Cloud to manage and record transactions, run reports, and maintain accurate financial records., • Invoicing and Payments: Process sales and purchase invoices, track payments, and ensure accuracy in supplier and customer accounts., • VAT Returns: Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with HMRC requirements., • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and reports., • Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank accounts regularly and ensure accurate financial reporting., • Payroll Support: Provide support in payroll and related processes as required., • Project Support: Work closely with the project management team to track costs, ensure accurate project invoicing, and maintain up-to-date financial records for ongoing M&E projects., • Ad Hoc Financial Tasks: Assist with various other accounting and administrative duties as needed, including filing, reporting, and responding to accounts-related queries. Accounts Assistant Skills and Qualifications: • Proven experience as an Accounts Assistant, ideally with 2-3 years in a similar role., • Strong experience using Sage 50 Cloud for financial transactions, reporting, and reconciliation., • AAT, ACCA, or equivalent accounting qualification (or working towards)., • Experience with M&E project-based accounting would be a plus., • Excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment., • High attention to detail with a methodical approach to work and problem-solving., • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications., • Excellent communication skills for liaising with both internal teams and external clients/suppliers., • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently., • A proactive and positive attitude towards tasks and challenges.
