Job DescriptionDescription: Job Summary: The Material Handler is responsible for the accurate receiving, staging, movement, storage, issuance, and control of raw materials, components, supplies, and finished goods in support of production and shipping/receiving operations. This role maintains material flow by completing inventory transactions, verifying material documentation, operating authorized material handling equipment, and communicating shortages, damage, or discrepancies promptly. Requirements: Essential Functions of Position: • Receiving and Verification: Unload inbound materials, verify quantities and condition against purchase orders, packing slips, or other documentation, and identify discrepancies for review., • Material Movement and Staging: Move, stage, and deliver raw materials, components, WIP, supplies, and finished goods to designated warehouse, production, shipping, or receiving locations., • Picking, Kitting, and Issuing: Pull, pick, kit, and issue materials based on work orders, pick lists, requisitions, or production schedules to support timely production flow., • Inventory Control: Label, scan, count, locate, and track materials accurately, including receipts, moves, returns, cycle counts, and inventory adjustments as directed., • ERP and Documentation: Complete required material transactions in the ERP system and maintain clear records of material receipts, issues, transfers, shortages, overages, damage, and movements., • Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, carts, overhead cranes and other authorized material handling equipment safely and according to site procedures., • Storage and Organization: Maintain orderly material locations, aisle access, labeling, segregation, and safe storage practices to reduce loss, damage, and production delays., • Shipping/Receiving Support: Assist with packaging, securing, loading, unloading, and staging materials or finished goods for shipment or internal transfer as assigned., • Safely rig, lift, transport, position, and stage materials using overhead crane systems in accordance with established lifting and safety practices., • Communication and Coordination: Communicate material shortages, damaged goods, location issues, and priority needs to production, purchasing, shipping/receiving, and supervision., • Safety and Housekeeping: Follow all required PPE, traffic, lifting, storage, and equipment safety requirements, and maintain clean, organized material handling areas., • Perform other duties as assigned that are directly related to materials, inventory, warehouse, shipping/receiving, and production logistics support. Minimum Qualifications: • Previous material handling, warehouse, inventory, shipping/receiving, or production support experience preferred., • Previous experience operating a forklift and or overhead cranes safely; ability to obtain or maintain required equipment authorization or certification when applicable., • Ability to read and use purchase orders, packing slips, pick lists, work orders, part numbers, labels, and inventory locations., • Basic data entry, math, counting, and computer skills, including accuracy when completing ERP or inventory transactions., • Ability to use a tape measure and take accurate measurements., • Ability to identify and report material shortages, damage, count discrepancies, and location issues promptly. Physical Requirements: • Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day in warehouse, production, shipping, or receiving areas., • Continual use of hands for pushing, pulling, grasping, holding, moving, labeling, scanning, and positioning materials with full range of motion, including above head, below feet, and side to side., • Frequent handling of materials, containers, pallets, carts, and equipment; ability to move and maintain 20 pounds constantly., • Occasional lifting, carrying, and maneuvering up to 50 pounds, using assistance or equipment when required by safe work practices., • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, squat, climb, and work safely around forklifts, pallet jacks, moving equipment, and stored materials., • Ability to work in a fast-paced material flow environment while maintaining attention to safety, accuracy, and inventory detail., • Knowledge of safe lifting, rigging, load securement, and material handling practices., • Ability to inspect slings, chains, hooks, lifting devices, and overhead crane equipment before use and report deficiencies promptly., • Ability to safely guide, position, and move large materials and components using forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment., • Ability to maintain awareness of suspended loads, equipment traffic, and surrounding personnel while performing material movement tasks.
