Job Description Chemist I – Analytical Toxicology Laboratory Location: Pomona, CA Position Type: Full-Time, 6-Month Contract Industry: Diagnostics / Analytical Toxicology Position Overview Viltis is seeking a motivated Chemist I to support one of our clients at their analytical toxicology laboratory in Pomona, CA. This is a six-month contract opportunity ideal for an early-career scientist looking to gain hands-on experience in analytical testing, LC-MS/MS, and regulated laboratory operations. The Chemist I will perform routine sample preparation, analytical testing, data review, and documentation in support of toxicology studies. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment alongside experienced scientists and laboratory professionals. Key Responsibilities • Perform routine sample preparation, extraction, and sample processing., • Conduct analytical testing using LC-MS/MS instrumentation., • Prepare reagents, standards, controls, calibration solutions, and sample dilutions., • Perform accurate and precise pipetting, including handling microliter volumes., • Execute analytical methods according to approved procedures, protocols, and laboratory requirements., • Review analytical data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established requirements., • Maintain accurate laboratory records, notebooks, and electronic documentation., • Assist with routine instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance checks., • Participate in laboratory investigations, deviations, and corrective actions as assigned., • Support laboratory organization, inventory management, and general housekeeping activities., • Follow all applicable safety, GMP, GLP, and laboratory procedures., • Perform duties in compliance with established business policies and quality requirements., • Support the development, implementation, and effectiveness of Quality Management Systems in accordance with applicable ISO, FDA, and other regulatory requirements. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Toxicology, or a related scientific discipline., • 0–2 years of analytical laboratory experience., • Basic understanding of chromatographic and mass spectrometry techniques., • Strong pipetting skills, including accurate and precise handling of microliter volumes., • Experience preparing standards, controls, reagents, and sample dilutions., • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills., • Ability to follow written procedures and maintain accurate laboratory documentation., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in a toxicology, pharmaceutical, environmental, diagnostics, or CRO laboratory., • Hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS systems., • Knowledge of GMP, GLP, or other regulated laboratory environments. Physical Requirements • Ability to work in a laboratory environment for extended periods., • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds., • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Pay range $30.00 - $30.00 Qualifications Basic Requirements: • An associate’s degree in general science (BS preferred) is required for the Lab Pack Chemist., • Driver’s License with clear record, • Moderate to extensive travel with 2% overnight travel, • Physical ability to lift and move material of various weights frequently exceeding 55 lbs., • Basic understanding of chemistry through general chemistry or biology This position requires a CDL B to be obtained within a 6-month period from your start date. Selected candidates will receive paid training during standard working hours, with Veolia covering the cost of the program. Failure to obtain a CDL B within the 6-month period will mean you are no longer eligible for the Lab Pack Chemist position. This position is also contingent upon successful completion of a DOT physical, DOT Drug Screen and any other DOL or company requirements.
