Family Law Paralegal & Office Administrator About the Firm Hornberger Verbitsky, P.C., The Long Island Divorce & Family Law Group, has served clients throughout Nassau County and Suffolk County for over 20 years, handling matters ranging from straightforward uncontested cases to complex litigation involving custody disputes, substantial assets, and high-net-worth estates. We are a growing practice looking for an organized, discreet, and proactive professional to serve as the operational backbone of our office, supporting our attorneys on active family law matters while keeping day-to-day office operations running smoothly. Position Summary This is a hybrid role combining substantive family law paralegal support with front-office and administrative management. The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between drafting legal documents and managing the practical operations of a busy law office, including phones, scheduling, vendor coordination, and billing support, in a fast-paced practice. Key Responsibilities Family Law / Paralegal Support • Draft pleadings, motions, financial disclosure affidavits (Statement of Net Worth), and settlement agreement drafts under attorney supervision, • Manage discovery: prepare document requests, track production, and organize responses, • Calendar and track court appearances, filing deadlines, and case milestones, • E-file documents with NY courts (NYSCEF) and maintain organized, up-to-date case files, • Support client intake and serve as an ongoing point of contact for case status updates, • Prepare exhibit binders and coordinate logistics for hearings and trial, • Prepare for and attend client meetings, depositions, and settlement conferences alongside attorneys, • Maintain regular communication with opposing counsel, experts, and other third parties on active cases Office Administration • Manage front-office operations: answering phones, greeting clients, scheduling consultations and appointments, • Maintain and coordinate attorney calendars across court dates, depositions, and client meetings, • Support billing processes and coordinate with the firm's bookkeeper/accountant, • Manage office supplies, vendor relationships, and general office logistics, • Assist with basic HR-adjacent administrative tasks (timekeeping records, onboarding paperwork for new staff), • Serve as a point of operational troubleshooting to keep the office running efficiently day to day, • Coordinate new client onboarding, including engagement letters and intake paperwork, • Support client-experience and marketing initiatives, such as review requests and referral tracking Qualifications • Paralegal certificate or equivalent hands-on experience; family law/matrimonial experience strongly preferred, • 2–5+ years of relevant paralegal and/or office administration experience, • Working knowledge of NYSCEF e-filing and standard legal case-management software, • Experience using MyCase practice management software (not required, but preferred), • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently, • High degree of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive client matters, • Strong written and verbal communication skills Compensation & Location • Competitive compensation, based on experience, • Full-time, in-office role based in Commack, NY (Suffolk County), serving clients throughout Suffolk and Nassau Counties \nCompany Description Divorce and Family Law Firm located in Commack, New York Divorce and Family Law Firm located in Commack, New York
