Job DescriptionProject / Field Engineer Los Angeles, CA Full-Time | On-Site About the Opportunity A well-established engineering and construction management consulting firm is seeking a Project / Field Engineer to support major transportation and infrastructure capital improvement projects throughout the Los Angeles area. This position is part of a growing Program Management / Construction Management (PM/CM) team supporting active public-sector construction programs. The role is heavily focused on field engineering, construction oversight, inspections, contractor coordination, construction documentation, and stakeholder management. This is not a design engineering position. The ideal candidate enjoys working in the field, collaborating with contractors and project teams, solving construction challenges, and helping deliver complex infrastructure projects safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contract requirements. Responsibilities • Serve as a field representative supporting contractors, project managers, designers, public agencies, utility companies, and project stakeholders., • Perform field inspections and verify construction activities comply with approved plans, specifications, standards, and safety requirements., • Prepare daily reports, inspection documentation, progress updates, and field records., • Review and track RFIs, submittals, field changes, and construction issues through resolution., • Support field meetings and coordinate communication between contractors, agencies, and project teams., • Monitor construction progress and identify schedule, quality, safety, or coordination concerns., • Assist with quantity verification, pay application review, cost tracking, and schedule support activities., • Coordinate with utilities, third-party stakeholders, and adjacent project teams., • Support testing and commissioning activities, punch list development, and project closeout documentation., • Maintain accurate project records and construction documentation throughout the project lifecycle. QualificationsRequired, • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline., • 3-8+ years of experience in one or more of the following:, • Project Engineering, • Field Engineering, • Construction Management, • Construction Inspection, • Construction Administration, • Experience supporting active infrastructure construction projects., • Strong understanding of:, • Construction plans and specifications, • RFIs, • Submittals, • Construction documentation, • Field coordination, • Change management processes, • Ability to work effectively with contractors, designers, agency representatives, and stakeholder groups., • Valid driver's license and ability to perform field visits at active construction sites. Preferred, • Experience supporting transportation, transit, rail, public works, or heavy civil infrastructure projects., • Experience working under public-agency requirements and construction programs., • Experience serving as an owner representative, contractor representative, or consultant supporting public-sector construction projects., • Experience with Bluebeam., • Experience with Procore, Unifier, or similar construction management software., • EIT certification preferred., • PE license is a plus. What Success Looks Like The successful Project / Field Engineer will become a trusted field representative who can: • Build credibility with contractors and stakeholders., • Maintain accurate and reliable project documentation., • Support construction progress and issue resolution., • Effectively communicate with project teams and agency representatives., • Anticipate risks before they impact cost, schedule, quality, or compliance. Operate independently in a fast-paced infrastructure construction environment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Los Angeles, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $124000.00 - $156000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
