Job Description Concrete Precast Stripping / Bed Preparation Operator Position Summary The Concrete Precast Stripping / Bed Preparation Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently preparing concrete beds and panels for the next production cycle. This position involves removing forms, hardware, strand, and other materials from completed concrete products while protecting company equipment and maintaining the quality of finished panels. The successful candidate will be trained on all stripping and bed-preparation procedures. Following approximately 3–6 months of training, the employee is expected to perform assigned stripping duties with little to no direction while consistently meeting company safety, quality, production, and housekeeping expectations. This is a physically demanding, hands-on manufacturing position that requires attention to detail, safe operation of hand and power tools, reliable attendance, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities After completing training, the employee will be expected to independently perform the following duties: Concrete Bed Stripping • Remove tarps, ropes, and bows from concrete beds and return them to their designated storage locations., • Carefully pop and remove magnets, rubber inserts, end caps, and side forms without damaging the components., • Remove recess members and verify that all lifters are clear and ready for the next production cycle., • Remove all remaining objects, tools, hardware, and materials from concrete beds before the beds or panels are lifted., • Remove chucks from dead strand and place them in the designated storage or collection areas., • Clean and prepare beds and related components for continued production., • Maintain an organized workflow to prevent unnecessary delays or damage to equipment and materials. Strand Cut-Down • Cut and remove strand using a cut-off saw in accordance with established procedures., • Follow all required safety procedures when operating a cut-off saw or other power equipment., • Wear the required PPE, including a face shield, throughout the entire cutting and cut-down process., • Maintain proper awareness of surrounding employees, equipment, and work areas while cutting strand., • Inspect the work area before and after cutting to ensure no hazards or loose materials remain., • Dispose of or store cut strand and related materials in their designated areas. Cleaning and Panel Preparation • Clean plates using wire brushes to remove concrete buildup and other material., • Participate in panel-cleaning activities as directed., • Remove concrete residue and buildup from forms, hardware, and applicable equipment., • Spray all strands with green epoxy paint according to established procedures., • Inspect work areas and components to ensure they are properly cleaned and ready for the next production cycle., • Take care to prevent damage to reusable forms, hardware, lifters, plates, and other production equipment. Housekeeping • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift., • Return tools, equipment, forms, hardware, and other materials to their designated locations., • Keep walkways, work areas, and production areas free of unnecessary debris and obstructions., • Clean up concrete, wire, strand, and other production materials in accordance with company procedures., • Immediately address or report unsafe housekeeping conditions. Employees are expected to: • Wear all required PPE at all times, with no exceptions., • Required PPE includes safety glasses, steel-toed boots, high-visibility vest, gloves, and a face shield when cutting or grinding., • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and training., • Use tools and equipment only as trained and authorized., • Maintain awareness of employees, equipment, moving materials, and other potential hazards., • Recognize, correct when appropriate, and immediately report unsafe conditions or hazards., • Follow proper procedures when working around concrete beds, strand, lifting equipment, power tools, and other production equipment., • Never bypass, remove, or ignore required safety precautions., • Ask questions whenever a procedure, task, or safety requirement is unclear., • Take personal safety and the safety of coworkers seriously at all times. Quality Expectations The employee is responsible for producing work that consistently meets company quality standards. • Perform stripping and cleaning tasks carefully and accurately., • Protect forms, magnets, inserts, end caps, lifters, plates, and other reusable equipment from unnecessary damage., • Pay close attention to detail when removing materials and preparing beds., • Produce clean, damage-free panels and components., • Follow production instructions and established procedures exactly as trained., • Identify and communicate quality concerns promptly., • Take pride in workmanship and maintain consistent standards throughout the workday., • Complete tasks correctly rather than taking shortcuts that could affect product quality or employee safety. Equipment and Tools The employee will be expected to learn the safe and proper operation of tools and equipment used in the stripping and bed-preparation process, including hand tools, wire brushes, cut-off saws, and other production equipment. Responsibilities include: • Learn and follow proper operating procedures for hand and power tools., • Inspect tools and equipment before use and report damaged or unsafe equipment., • Use the correct tool for each assigned task., • Clean tools after use and return them to designated storage locations., • Treat company-owned tools, equipment, and production materials with care., • Report missing, damaged, or malfunctioning tools and equipment to the appropriate supervisor. Physical Requirements This position requires the employee to perform physically demanding manufacturing tasks on a regular basis. Employees must be able to safely perform duties that may include: • Standing and walking for extended periods., • Bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and working in various positions., • Repetitive use of hands, arms, and upper body., • Handling and moving tools, forms, hardware, and production materials., • Working in an industrial production environment., • Wearing required PPE throughout the workday., • Working around concrete, steel strand, power tools, and other manufacturing equipment. Work Environment The position is performed in a precast concrete manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to: • Concrete dust and residue., • Noise from manufacturing equipment and power tools., • Steel strand and other metal materials., • Heavy production equipment and moving materials., • Outdoor or variable-temperature conditions, depending on the work area., • Wet, dusty, or otherwise physically demanding work conditions. Employees are expected to follow all applicable safety procedures and use required PPE to minimize workplace hazards. Training and Performance Expectations New employees will receive hands-on training covering stripping procedures, equipment operation, safety requirements, quality standards, housekeeping, and proper handling of production materials. The anticipated training period is approximately 3–6 months, depending on the employee's progress, demonstrated competency, safety performance, and ability to consistently perform assigned duties. Following successful completion of training, the employee should be capable of: • Performing standard stripping tasks with little to no direction., • Safely operating required tools and equipment., • Consistently following established safety procedures., • Meeting established quality expectations., • Maintaining an organized and productive work area., • Recognizing common hazards and reporting them appropriately., • Completing assigned work accurately and efficiently., • Working independently while communicating effectively with the production team. Overall Performance Standard Success in this position is measured by the employee's ability to work safely, maintain consistent quality, protect company equipment, keep the work area organized, and complete assigned stripping and bed-preparation duties efficiently and independently. Employees are expected to demonstrate continuous improvement throughout training and to maintain company standards once they are working independently.
