Senior Corporate Hotel Hands On Construction Manager – managing million dollar Projects for major Luxury Resorts in the Caribbean This is a high-profile construction role for a group of luxury Caribbean resorts. This represents an excellent opportunity for an accomplished Hands on construction/project management professional to play a key role in the resort’s continued development and capital investment program. Position Overview: We are seeking an accomplished Hotel Construction Manager - Projects to lead and oversee the resort’s construction, renovation, capital improvement, and major project initiatives. This is a senior-level role for a group of large, luxury hotel resorts in the Caribbean, requiring a proven track record managing complex construction projects in high-end hospitality environments. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience managing projects valued at US$5 million to US$100 million, from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and completion. They want a hands on manager not a pencil pushing supervisor !! The ideal candidate will bring strong hotel technical and commercial expertise, excellent project leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges associated with construction and development in Caribbean island resort environments. This position is suited to an experienced hotel hospitality construction/project professional, rather than a general construction manager without luxury hotel experience. The ideal candidate will have a stable employment history, meaningful tenure with previous employers, and a demonstrated record of successfully delivering large-scale, US$5M + US$100 million projects in the Caribbean. Compensation is a six figure net USA salary plus accommodation, bonuses, insurances - a total expatriate package. Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership & Management • Lead the planning, development, execution, and completion of major construction and capital projects throughout the resort., • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery within approved scope, budget, quality, and schedule., • Oversee projects from initial concept, feasibility, and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover., • Establish project objectives, milestones, budgets, schedules, and performance standards., • Monitor progress and proactively identify and resolve risks, delays, cost issues, and technical challenges., • Provide regular project status reports and recommendations to senior management and ownership. Construction Management • Coordinate and supervise architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders., • Review construction drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, change orders, and project documentation., • Ensure construction activities comply with approved plans, applicable codes, regulations, safety standards, and resort quality standards., • Conduct regular site inspections and project meetings., • Ensure construction quality meets the expectations and standards of a luxury international resort operation., • Coordinate construction activities with hotel operations to minimize disruption to guests and ongoing resort activities. Budget & Commercial Control • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and cost controls., • Review contractor proposals, bids, variations, claims, and change orders., • Work closely with Finance, Procurement, Legal, and senior management to maintain strong commercial controls., • Ensure appropriate competitive procurement and contracting practices are followed., • Identify opportunities to improve value without compromising luxury standards, design intent, durability, or guest experience. Design & Development Coordination • Work closely with ownership, hotel management, architects, designers, engineers, and consultants throughout the project lifecycle., • Review designs for constructability, operational suitability, cost effectiveness, and long-term maintenance considerations., • Coordinate FF&E, OS&E, infrastructure, MEP, landscaping, back-of-house, guest areas, and other resort-related construction requirements where applicable., • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with approved design concepts and luxury hospitality standards. Resort & Island Environment • Understand and effectively manage the logistical challenges associated with Caribbean island construction, including transportation, shipping, customs, availability of materials, labor, weather conditions, and local contractor capabilities., • Develop contingency strategies for supply-chain, weather, labor, and logistical risks., • Maintain strong relationships with local authorities, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and other stakeholders., • Coordinate project activities around the operational requirements of a large resort. Leadership & Stakeholder Management • Provide clear leadership and direction to project teams and external consultants., • Maintain strong communication with General Management, ownership representatives, senior executives, and department heads., • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Finance, Procurement, Operations, Security, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and other resort departments., • Represent the resort professionally in meetings with contractors, consultants, government authorities, and ownership representatives. Candidate Profile: The successful candidate will be a highly experienced construction and hospitality professional with a stable and progressive career history and a demonstrated record of delivering major projects in luxury hotel and resort environments. Required Experience • Significant experience managing construction and capital projects within large luxury hotels, resorts, or hospitality developments., • Proven experience managing individual construction projects valued at US$5 million or greater., • Demonstrated experience taking projects from concept/design through construction and final completion., • Previous experience working within luxury hospitality, preferably with internationally recognized or high-end hotel/resort operations., • Caribbean experience is strongly preferred, particularly experience working on island-based resort projects., • Strong understanding of construction methods, project controls, contracts, procurement, cost management, and project scheduling., • Experience coordinating multiple professional disciplines, including architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and specialist suppliers., • Demonstrated ability to manage projects in complex operating environments where construction must coexist with an active luxury resort. Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or a related discipline., • Professional project management or construction certification is an advantage., • Experience with major resort renovations, new-build developments, expansions, or large-scale capital improvement programs., • Experience working with international hotel brands, developers, ownership groups, or luxury hospitality operators.
