Engagement Manager — Client Accounting & Finance Operations Client-facing title: Accounting Manager Employment type: Full-time, W-2 (Liv Data LLC) Location: Liv Data — Jersey City, NJ, with several days per week on-site in Newark, NJ at the assigned client Reports to: John Silverstein, Founder & Principal Benefits: Unlimited PTO, 401(k), medical / dental / vision, CPA license and CPE reimbursement About Liv Data Liv Data LLC is a finance and accounting consulting and advisory firm built by operators. Our careers span Fortune 500 enterprises, private equity‑backed businesses, and high‑growth ventures, in roles from Controller to CFO. We built the firm on a simple premise: finance should be a strategic driver, not a reporting factory. We deliver across three pillars — Run (finance operations), Transform (FP&A and automation), and Advise (CFO office leadership and strategic oversight) — for mid‑market, private equity‑backed, and high‑growth companies. Depending on the mandate, we either run a client’s CFO office outright or augment an existing finance team with senior capability it does not have in place. Engagements are staffed as teams; it is common for several Liv Data professionals to be working a single client at once. Clients come to us for faster closes, cleaner controls, and decision‑grade reporting, and they stay because we operate as an extension of their leadership team rather than as a vendor. The firm is led directly by its Principals, and this role is a direct extension of their work. You will not be buried in an org chart or handed off to a delivery manager. You will work alongside the people who set firm strategy, price the engagement, and own the client relationship — with the standing and support that comes with representing them on the ground. Position Overview The Engagement Manager is a core part of how Liv Data delivers Run — finance and accounting operations. You own the accounting function for an assigned client, carry the client‑facing title of Accounting Manager, and run the full accounting cycle with the firm’s full delivery model behind you. That model is what separates this seat from an in‑house accounting manager role. You are not doing all of it alone. On every engagement, regardless of client, you work with two things the firm brings with you: Liv Data’s technology stack — agentic AI and automation across procure‑to‑pay and order‑to‑cash (Hyperbots), reporting and analytics (Aleph, Snowfire, our BI pipelines), layered on top of the client’s own ERP. You are the human in the loop: the platform absorbs the volume, and you own the review, the judgment, and the control environment around it. Liv Data’s offshore delivery team , which you direct on transactional execution, reconciliation preparation, and close support. Managing that team is part of the job on day one, not something you grow into. You bring controllership, judgment, and the credibility to hold a client relationship. The technology and the offshore team give you leverage most accounting managers never get. That combination is the offering — and you are the person who makes it real at the client. Our current lead engagement is with a specialty materials manufacturer working through a headquarters relocation and a finance‑team transition. This is an augmentation mandate — the client’s team stays in place as process owners, and you supply the senior accounting ownership they are missing. It is build‑and‑stabilize work, not maintain‑the‑status‑quo: within the first six months, the goal is a close the client trusts, running on documented processes that do not depend on any one person. Key Responsibilities Own the monthly close: journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and timely, accurate financial statements in accordance with US GAAP. Run day‑to‑day operations across AP, AR, general ledger, and payroll, ensuring transactions are recorded completely and correctly. Serve as the primary accounting point of contact for client leadership; prepare and present monthly reporting, KPIs, and variance analysis. Build, document, and enforce accounting policies, SOPs, and internal controls — stabilizing the function through periods of change. Direct Liv Data’s offshore delivery team supporting the engagement: set priorities, review output, and hold the work to client deadlines. Act as the human in the loop on Liv Data’s automation stack — reviewing and approving AI‑processed transactions, resolving exceptions, and owning the controls that sit around the technology. Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash‑flow monitoring in partnership with client finance leadership. Lead audit preparation and act as the client‑side liaison to external auditors. Identify and drive process and systems improvements across both the client’s ERP and the Liv Data platform. Location & Delivery Expectations This role is based out of Liv Data’s Jersey City office, with several days per week on‑site in Newark at the current client. Travel beyond the tri‑state area is occasional and engagement‑dependent — not a routine expectation of the job. Physical presence at the client site is a core requirement, not an incidental one. Trust with client staff and leadership is built in person, and stabilization work of this kind cannot be done at arm’s length. You should be comfortable operating independently on‑site and adapting quickly to an unfamiliar system and culture. Liv Data is a founder‑led firm in an active growth phase, which makes the path here near‑term and concrete rather than theoretical. Progression is driven by delivery outcomes and client renewal, not tenure. Engagement Manager — Own one client engagement end to end. Deliver a close the client relies on and processes that outlast you. Senior Engagement Manager — Own the firm’s most complex or highest‑value engagement. Mentor incoming Engagement Managers and help shape how the offshore team and automation stack get deployed across clients. Director, Client Accounting Operations — Oversee multiple concurrent engagements and the Engagement Managers running them. Own delivery quality and engagement economics across the Run practice, and expand client relationships into Transform work. Principal — Firm leadership alongside the existing Principals: client origination, practice strategy, and firm economics. Two things worth stating plainly. First, engagements are Liv Data relationships, not individual placements — the firm carries continuity between them, so when an engagement concludes or changes scope, you are redeployed rather than left exposed. Second, strong performers are not locked into Run. There is a path into Transform (FP&A, automation, systems implementation) and into Advise, where we run or augment the client’s CFO office, as your interests and the firm’s book develop. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full ownership of the month‑end close and financial statement preparation. Hands‑on experience with at least one mid‑market ERP (NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, or comparable). Advanced Excel. Demonstrated ability to build or rebuild processes and controls — not simply maintain an established function. Polished, credible, and self‑directed with senior stakeholders. Preferred Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or another inventory‑based or operations‑heavy industry. Prior consulting or client‑service experience. Experience directing a support team, including outsourced, offshore, or managed‑service resources. Comfort with AI‑assisted or automated finance tooling. Reporting, consolidation, or data‑query skills (SQL or similar). What Success Looks Like A clean, on‑time close the client can rely on and financial reporting leadership trusts. Documented, repeatable processes that reduce the client’s dependence on any single individual. An effective working rhythm with Liv Data’s offshore team and automation stack — more capacity delivered, not more headcount added. A client relationship strong enough to renew and expand the engagement. Liv Data LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
