POSITION SUMMARY: The Next Step Resource and Recovery Center opportunities for people in all stages and forms of recovery to deliver and attend individual and group support activities, initiate, and conduct outreach, and events celebrating recovery and reducing stigma associated with substance use. The Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and hosts several services including Recovery Center peer-driven individual and group recovery services, counseling and case management, overdose prevention services, harm reduction, and recovery-oriented community outreach, education, and the Training Institute at CHASI. The Recovery Counselor serves as a key clinical member of the Next Step team, providing substance use disorder assessments, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and recovery support services to participants. The Recovery Counselor works collaboratively with Senior Peer Mentors, and community partners to support participant engagement and continuity of care. The aim of Community First is to create an upstream diversion from arrest and justice system involvement by building supportive relationships with people in need of services and creating linkages to mental health services, housing support, substance use services, and other kinds of social services as needed. Manhattan Justice is a centralized, court-based screening and referral hub that provides judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys at New York County Criminal Court and Supreme Court with a wide array of social service-based sentencing options in misdemeanor and felony cases. Manhattan Justice is seeking a Case Manager to work with defendants participating in the Manhattan Felony Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) Court. The ATI Court, which is led by Administrative Judge Ellen Biben, seeks to forge a new response to individuals charged with felonies by linking them to community-based social services. The Court is the first of its kind, providing an innovative model for other jurisdictions seeking to develop and implement meaningful post-conviction sentencing options for individuals facing felony charges. Reporting to Senior Social Worker, the Case Manager will be part of a team that provides case management services to the ATI Court. The Case Manager will be responsible for providing referrals to community-based services, offering comprehensive clinical case management, and monitoring participant compliance. An essential and dynamic feature of the Case Manager’s role will be close collaboration with key stakeholders. Job Description Safe Horizon’s Senior DV Victim Advocate (SVD) works within the SVD of NYPD. The advocate partners with police personnel to provide a coordinated, victim-centered approach to teen and adult victims of sexual assault to reduce trauma and improve the quality of services victims receive. The advocate works with victims, friends, caregivers and family members of sexual assault who are seeking assistance from NYPD within the SVD. The advocate will also be available to work with victims of sexual assault on an as-needed basis by responding to their home or to the hospital where they are being treated. Principal Responsibilities • Demonstrates fidelity to the agency’s service values and organizational imperatives., • Monitors submission of progress notes, Court Reports, FASP, PHR’s and other case planning documentation as required., • Conducts weekly supervision with Case Planners to ensure agency, ACS/ OCFS mandates and requirements are adhered to., • Responsible for review of documentation to ensure Case Planner’s are documenting casework and collateral contacts and case progress as it relates to ACS/ OCFS and agency mandates., • Assumes responsibility for case planners’ tasks/ actions as related to the established goals for assigned resident youth., • Provides 24-hour support to social service team and resident youth as it relates to permanency planning and contact resolution., • Attends Family Team Conference and/or other staffings and meetings as necessary/required., • Engages in bi-weekly group supervision with Director of Social Services and MST-FIT staff/program to monitor MST-FIT referrals made on behalf of residents/families., • Monitors and ensures time management and organization within social services to ensure adherence to the Qualified Residential Treatment Placement/other policies governing the department/ program., • Attends any/ all trainings as recommended/ required., • Assumes duties, as assigned, during the absence of the departments Program Director., • Any and all other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications and Experience • MSW required with a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience with some knowledge of child welfare, preferably in congregate care setting., • Mature, professional, leads by example, with a strong sense of purpose and performance expectations/service excellence., • Fidelity to trauma informed care when engaging with resident population and staff alike., • Strong writing and communication abilities., • Proven supervisory success and basic child welfare knowledge., • Must be high energy with a bias for action. Travel Requirements This position offers a full-time, in-person and field schedule and is based in Rockaway Park and does require travel to other locations when needed. NCS seeks to create a more fair, effective, and humane justice system through court-based alternative sentencing, pretrial social services, victim services, and youth diversion. With over 15 years of court-based social service experience, NCS specializes in public-private partnerships which allow anchor institutions like the courts to respond to the community while simultaneously building public confidence in justice. A project of the Center for Justice Innovation, Newark Community Solutions builds on lessons learned from successful community courts and justice centers throughout the country, which have reduced local crime, improved compliance with sanctions, and strengthened the connections between courts and communities. Newark Community Solutions seeks a Case Manager as part of its Eviction Diversion Initiative. Reporting to the Project Director, the EDI Case Manager is responsible for identifying participants, completing screenings and assessments, developing housing/service plans, and delivering interventions through service applications and referrals for participants. This position will be co-located between the Newark Municipal Court and Newark City Hall as well as various community locations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Maintain a specialized caseload of clients facing eviction with identified social service needs;, • Conduct programmatic outreach including, but not limited to, mailings, phone calls, public information sessions, and community tabling;, • Conduct intake assessments and developing individualized housing and general service plans;, • Provide direct social services to respond to immediate housing needs, including rental assistance applications, rapid rehousing, utility assistance applications, emergency assistance, and referrals for legal services;, • Facilitate group sessions about court processes, tenants’ rights, and New Jersey housing resources, including, but not limited to, self-certification and rental assistance, homelessness prevention, and state benefits;, • Provide referrals to NCS specialized clinical programming and other community-based resources;, • Maintain client records in files and electronic case management system;, • Attend community meetings and events on behalf of the program;, • Accompany participants to court in an advocacy capacity as needed;, • Participate in professional development and training regarding New Jersey’s anti-eviction and homelessness prevention programs; and;, • Additional tasks as necessary. Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a B.A. or related degree as well as at least two years of experience working in the social service field. Experience within the legal system and/or local social service system required. Candidate must be a skilled communicator and team player able to work in a multidisciplinary setting. Supervisory experience. Familiarity with the Essex County is required and bilingual in Spanish a plus. Position Type: Full-time in-person work Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM required; weekend and evening hours required, as needed. Position Location: Newark, NJ Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $52,000 - $65,400.00 and is commensurate with experience.
