Job DescriptionJob Title: CookJob Description The Cook accurately and efficiently prepares, portions, cooks, and presents a wide variety of hot and cold food items for multiple meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events in a high-volume kitchen environment. Responsibilities • Prepare, portion, and cook a variety of hot and cold menu items for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events., • Set up and maintain food preparation stations, ensuring all ingredients and tools are ready and organized for service., • Perform food preparation tasks such as mixing, chopping, slicing, steaming, grilling, and cold prep according to established standards., • Follow recipes and production sheets to ensure consistency, quality, and proper portion control for all menu items., • Operate and safely use all kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills, steamers, mixers, and other food production tools., • Support tray line service by accurately plating and presenting meals in accordance with portion and presentation guidelines., • Assist with catering and banquet cooking, including preparing large quantities of food and meeting event timelines., • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area by washing dishes, cleaning stations, and following proper cleaning procedures., • Monitor inventory levels, assist with inventory control, and report shortages or needs to ensure continuous kitchen operations., • Work collaboratively as part of a team to support smooth kitchen operations and timely meal service., • Follow instructions from culinary leadership and adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and kitchen policies.Essential Skills, • Proven ability to perform both hot and cold food preparation in a fast-paced kitchen environment., • Ability to use knives safely and effectively for chopping, slicing, and other prep tasks., • Experience cooking fish, chicken, and meat using various methods such as grilling, steaming, and roasting., • Ability to follow recipes and production guidelines to maintain consistent quality and portion sizes., • Capability to operate and use all standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently., • Experience with food production for catering and banquet-style events., • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff., • Ability to perform dishwashing and station cleaning tasks while maintaining sanitation standards., • Basic understanding of inventory control and ability to assist in monitoring kitchen stock.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Background in hospitality or institutional food service environments., • Line cook or cook experience in a high-volume setting., • Comfort working on tray lines and in large-scale food production operations., • Banquet and catering cooking experience supporting events and special functions., • Strong attention to detail in food presentation and portioning., • Ability to work efficiently under time pressure and adapt to changing service demands.Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.25 - $16.75/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
