Job DescriptionJob Title: General Machine Operator (2nd Shift)Job Description This role focuses on operating and maintaining a variety of general production machines, including tumblers and stamp presses, to process incoming pin orders accurately and on time. You will use hand and power tools to set up, adjust, and maintain equipment, inspect parts to uphold quality standards, and support small projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities • Run a variety of general production machines such as tumblers, stamp presses, and related equipment., • Use hand and power tools to set up, adjust, and maintain machinery for optimal performance., • Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues to minimize downtime and maintain steady production flow., • Process all incoming pin orders accurately and in a timely manner according to production schedules., • Operate and maintain all machines and equipment in the pin department, following established procedures., • Inspect parts regularly to ensure they meet quality control standards and report any defects or issues., • Write and complete tags for all orders to ensure proper identification, tracking, and documentation., • Plan and execute small projects within the department, coordinating tasks and resources as needed., • Work independently while maintaining accuracy, meeting deadlines, and following production priorities., • Participate actively in Continuous Improvement activities and the Suggestion System to enhance processes and efficiency., • Perform general labor and assembly tasks as needed to support production requirements., • Follow all safety procedures when using hand tools, power tools, and operating machinery., • Read and interpret basic prints or work instructions to set up machines and complete tasks correctly., • Assist with packaging finished parts and preparing products for shipment or further processing.Essential Skills, • Experience operating general production or manufacturing machines, such as tumblers and stamp presses., • Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for equipment setup, adjustment, and maintenance., • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues on production equipment., • Experience in general labor, assembly, or production work within a manufacturing environment., • Ability to read and follow basic prints, work instructions, and production documentation., • Strong attention to detail to process orders accurately and maintain quality control standards., • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 45 pounds as part of daily job duties., • Reliable work habits and ability to work independently while meeting production schedules., • Basic understanding of quality inspection practices to identify defects and maintain product standards., • Willingness to work 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous manufacturing experience is strongly preferred., • Experience with machine operating, stamping press or stamp press equipment is an advantage., • Background in packaging and general labor tasks within a production setting is beneficial., • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement concepts and participation in suggestion or improvement programs., • Comfort working with various hand tools and power tools in a shop or plant environment., • Ability to plan and execute small projects, organizing tasks and managing time effectively.Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a 2nd shift position, working Monday through Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The role is based in a manufacturing setting that uses various machines, including tumblers and stamp presses, along with hand and power tools. The work involves standing for long periods and lifting up to 45 pounds. Depending on the machine being operated, the area may occasionally be a little smelly due to normal production processes. You will work around active machinery, packaging areas, and general labor and assembly stations, following standard safety practices and wearing appropriate work attire suitable for a factory environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
