Our goal is to provide advocacy, resources, trusting relationships, educational support, and engaging activities. Choices Alternative to Detention (ATD) aims to help young people who have a case in Family Court gain; competence, confidence, positive connections with peers and adults, build character/self-esteem, contribute to their communities, and reduce their involvement in the criminal legal system. Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Coach works with young people and their families to develop goals around education, health and wellness, youth development, and reduction in recidivism. The objective of this role is to ensure participants and their families receive opportunities to engage in creative and enriching services that are; strengths-based, culturally relevant, support participants and their families in achieving their self-identified goals, aid in the process of reducing recidivism, and are adherent to the core principles of risk, need and responsivity.
