Welder/Fabricator – Four-Day Working Week Location: Doncaster Pay: £14.74 per hour, depending on experience Contract: Full-time, permanent Hours: 6:30am–5:00pm, Monday to Thursday The Opportunity Due to continued company growth, an established Doncaster manufacturer is looking for an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join its expanding production team. This is a varied, hands-on position involving MIG and TIG welding, metal preparation and the fabrication of chassis and body components for commercial vehicles. You will work from technical drawings and job specifications to produce accurate, durable fabrications to consistently high standards. Key Responsibilities Complete MIG and TIG welding on commercial vehicle chassis and body components. Fabricate and assemble subframes, load beds, headboards, corner pillars, cages and supporting structures. Measure, mark, cut, drill and prepare metal components before welding and assembly. Work with aluminium, mild steel and other materials according to the relevant specification. Read and interpret engineering drawings, measurements and job instructions. Use grinders, cutting equipment, hand tools and workshop machinery safely. Inspect completed welds and fabrications, identifying any faults or rework required. Ensure components are correctly aligned, structurally sound and finished to a high standard. Support the fitting of fabricated parts, vehicle accessories and safety equipment where required. Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop. Candidate Requirements Previous professional MIG and TIG welding experience. Experience within fabrication, engineering, manufacturing, commercial vehicles or a related environment. Ability to read and understand engineering or fabrication drawings. Confident measuring, cutting, drilling, grinding and preparing metal. Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing quality work. Able to work accurately using personal initiative and as part of a team. Good awareness of workshop health and safety requirements. Flexible approach to varied fabrication and assembly work. Relevant welding or fabrication qualifications would be beneficial but are not essential. Package and Benefits Permanent position created through company growth.
