Reed Engineering & Manufacturing are working with a leading engineering & manufacturing company. \n About the Role \n We are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading heavy engineering manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving a wide range of electrical systems and production equipment, ensuring maximum plant availability, reliability, and safety within a heavy industrial environment. \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on plant equipment.\n, • Diagnose and repair electrical faults on production machinery and ancillary equipment.\n, • Maintain motors, drives, inverters, PLCs, control panels, instrumentation, and process control systems.\n, • Perform fault finding on electrical, automation, and control systems.\n, • Support continuous improvement activities to enhance machinery performance and reduce downtime.\n, • Participate in breakdown investigations and root cause analysis.\n, • Assist with installation, commissioning, and modification of plant equipment.\n, • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with site health and safety procedures.\n, • Accurately complete maintenance records using the site's CMMS system.\n, • Support shutdowns, projects, and capital investment activities when required.\n, • Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to maximise operational efficiency.\n\n Essential Requirements \n\n • Time-served Electrical Engineering apprenticeship.\n, • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.\n, • Previous electrical maintenance experience within a heavy manufacturing, process, or industrial environment.\n, • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.\n, • Experience working with:\n \n, • Three-phase electrical systems\n, • Motors and motor controls\n, • Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)\n, • PLC-controlled machinery\n, • Electrical distribution systems\n \n, • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.\n, • Knowledge of electrical health and safety regulations.\n\n Desirable Requirements \n\n • Experience within steel manufacturing, rolling mills, foundries, metals processing, or heavy industry.\n, • Siemens S7, Allen Bradley, or Mitsubishi PLC knowledge.\n, • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.\n, • High voltage (HV) switching experience.\n, • Experience with SCADA and automation systems.\n, • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.\n\n Key Skills \n\n • Electrical fault finding\n, • PLC diagnostics\n, • Industrial automation\n, • Preventative maintenance\n, • Root cause analysis\n, • Continuous improvement\n, • Problem solving\n, • Communication and teamwork\n, • Health & Safety compliance\n\n The role also includes pension, competitive holidays, bonus etc
